Remember that penalty against Bentancur...

As most on here know i have been against VAR since it came in, what encourages me is that there seems to be a lot more fans wanting rid of it. We/I live in hope it comes soon.

You tend to actually need to have touches in the opponents box to be awarded penalties. The only way we could earn penalties is from long throws, corners or our hoofs towards the far side of the box when we get free kicks anywhere in the opposition half (or even in our own half near the half way line).

Something has to be done. The game is brick to watch now.

The problem is not VAR but the referees. I can't believe that the amount of stupid decisions I have seen. I am actually considering stopping watching the PL as a whole. It is that infuriating.

There are double standards for handballs, for pushes in the back, for red cards, for holding in the box - even for kicking the ball away after celebrating.

And we always come out on the wrong end of those decisions. I just don't believe it's coincidental anymore.

With you on this. I just don’t think it can be incompetence. These refs/vars aren’t idiots — they must have some abilities to be officiating a Premier league match and have an interest in decisions other refs have made etc.

We’re not talking about the occasionally error, this is giving completely opposite outcomes to exactly the same event; pushes, holding, studs up tackles etc with a consistent bias that certain teams are always favoured.

Either 1) They’re just taking the tinkle and enjoying the thrill of dictating the results (and maybe it’s got out of hand) or 2) Someone has told them to.

You couldn’t be this illogically incompetent by accident.

The problem with the Radu push and the Gabriel swandive is not the act itself...it's that both were called differently by the onfield official.

So the silly threshold gonads comes into play...and both didn't meet that to end up with a review .... although both acts looked similar, so they back themselves into a self inflicted corner.
Similarly, the onfield ref feels obliged to overturn every bloody decision that's recommended for review. Another self inflicted corner they back themselves into.

The threshold for both of these incidents, should not be the act of the foul or not, but the importance of the outcome ie the most valuable thing in football, a goal. So that in itself deserves their attention...and as such, they need to get it right. Let the onfield ref have a good look at the replays and a deep discussion with NO bias of outcome from either ref (like they do in NFL)

I'd rather mirror what they do in NFL and have two coaches challenges...forcing the officials to bang their heads together, review the play and come to a collective decision.
