Putin & Russia

Mafia protection racket.
View attachment 18887

Think I alluded to it ages back, and others too.
No one gives a brick about the land/country, except Ukraine, in the slightest.

Russia wanted the buffer zone.
The West wanted it for extension of the ""NATO border"" and the minerals.

There is a reason no-one gave a flying fudge during the eight years of conflict after Russia annexed Crimea. They had to react when Russia invaded en masse and were given the opportunity.

I think we should be doing everything we can to defend them - including NATO membership.

But if it ends up as US Vs EU we should be on the US side.
The least surprising post of the evening. You were gung ho for Ukraine not long ago and now you are willing to reach around anyone who is in power. Show some self respect.

edit: Just to add, at least the current UK government, and the last to be fair, are not showing the cowardice you are showing tonight.

Putin has invited Trump to Moscow for the small dingdong energy parade thing they do. A new axis of evil is forming.

The EU/Europe need to wake the fudge up to what is happening and do something.

Need to bring Japan, Australia and some of South America (i.e. not Argentina) closer into the fold of civilised nations.

This is true. We are moving into extraordinarily dangerous times.

They are (to a great extent) unprecedented, certainly in my lifetime. I suppose you could look at the time when Hitler, Franco and Mussolini were all in power as an equivalent, however the digital angle on the current situation exacerbates potential problems. I am not a fatalist per se, but I am resigned to some extraordinarily bad things happening around us.

I'm still gung ho for Ukraine. I just think that helping the US destroy the EU (by whatever means possible) is probably the second most important thing that could be done for this planet.

Never thought I would see the day you finally recognised what the EU is.

You will be welcome to come join me at our annual brevity celebration in the summer.😛

I think it would be the first most important thing.

But as we are agreeing in the direction of things I will over look anything I disagree with you on so I can just blindly agree with everything else.

Sure. Because the EU is a conglomerate of unelected bureaucrats and an absolute mess… we should instead look to have like the United States a conglomerate of unelected bureaucrats

why care about destroying the EU?

We left. You got what you wanted

It hasn’t changed anything remotely. But you got your desired outcome

What good does destroying it in a war allied with Putin and Trump change?

I voted remain but not an ardent remainer. I certainly see it’s flaws and felt undecided when voting

But I would still rather live in any EU country than a Trump America or Putin Russia or Ukraine
