Ah, Erik Lamela, you remained and fought and fought some more. So fudging glad you did. Here's to him having another great season!

We looked far better and progressive going forward when Mason, Carrol, Chadli and Son went off. They are all players we wouldn't miss if they were sold.

The kids in their places did absolutely great and showed this is the route we need to pursue.

There's no comparison whatsoever. Dortmund was a huge game that people thought we would go out and try to win. This was a friendly that everyone knew was gonna be missing all 11 players that played in the Euros.

They can advertise it anyway they like but surely its not the first time you encountered a pre season friendly?
We all know the score by now.
Its the done thing to give players that have been at tournaments extra rest.

The PR company employed by the bricky tournament can dress it up anyway they want to capture the casual market but you didn't actually expect Harry Kane to be dragged out for this one after 120 competitive games in the last 2 seasons did you?
 
Just got back from the game. Poor first half, full of defensive mistakes. Wholesale substitutions in the second half and Juve taking their foot off the gas meant we dominated in the second half. Could easily have sneaked a draw. Wanyama, Lamela were the only two that looked premier league (let alone champions league class). Our youth lads need some serious work. Yedlin at left back, Ball in defence, Trippier, Mason...I could go on but it is a friendly and some slack has to be given. Poch didn't stand up once, just sat in the dugout (it was 4 degrees). Fans gave it a good go in the second half. Hope I bump into Poch at the team hotel tomorrow or Thursday.
 
This must be the the least active pre-season I have known us have.

In the past we used a good 4 or 5 matches before the first league match (not that it ever did us much good), who can ever forget Bents 17 goals in 9 matches.
Just hope we are mentally and physically prepared for Everton in just over 2 weeks, we need to hit the ground running. Finishing last season DDLL was bad enough, we could really do with a win early doors to build some momentum
