Have you considered that if we can't defend corners properly with everybody back, then perhaps changing to have less players back might result in a less congested penalty area and fewer opposition players to pick up?

AVBs issue seems to be pochs issue too- we're far too narrow as a team up front with inverted wingers. Expecting Rose and dier to provide width is great but rose is the only fb who can do that. Dier is a cb not a fb.
No surprise that Lennon playing on the right stretched WBA when he came on. There were acres of space wide but we kept cutting in.
ADE hasn't played with anywhere as near as much confidence. I wonder if fitness for him is still an issue.
For games like these we needed more bods up top fr the start and we needs width and a quicker tempo.

I presume we want our full backs to push on and central midfield/fullbacks to cover for them, hence Capoue dropping deep to make a 3 as the centre backs pull wide for Lloris to distribute etc
The point of inverted wingers is to be more of a goal threat and support the lone striker compared to traditional wingers who are primarily trying to get past their opposition FB to put in crosses. When they go inside it opens up space to overlap. It will probably take a while to get the players to fully understand how this works and their role in it, footballers not being very bright and all.

Not sure if Lamela was marking him or was assigned to that certain space or zone but either way he was about 2 feet from Morrison (clearly the closest to him) and made absolutely no attempt to attack the ball or to put off Morrison that is unacceptable

I am glad somebody else sees it.
High % pass completion rate because he gives simple balls under no pressure against teams sitting deep.
Basically anyone in the football league can do that but he gets a lot of praise for keeping things 'ticking over' .
On the other hand, as a DM he is absolutely woeful.
So slow and cumbersome he makes Jordan Henderson look like Usain Bolt.
His off the ball play is appalling. Never in the right place and fails to pick up runners or protect his back four.
Continually leaves his man when defending set pieces.
Not sure if he shirks the responsibility or has major concentration lapses but the team really need him at set pieces along with our central defenders to step up and he rarely does.

We're equal on points with **** and United and two points behind Liverpool. West Ham and Southampton won't stay the distance.
Just a few weeks ago all the papers were eulogizing Villa and Swansea, now they're dropping like stones.

Compared to last season's results, team for team, in the Prem, we are I think still a point ahead. That's a positive and one reason why I'm not criticizing Poch as much I might, given Statto's damning graph http://www.glory-glory.co.uk/showth...-Tottenham-Hotspur-Mauricio-Pochettino/page62.
Also as mentioned we've had a hard start this season, let's hope Toon shows us on an upward trend. We should win our next three home games (all comps), it's a tough ask of course, but achieve that and there are strong grounds for optimism.

6 out of 8 games have seen an improved result so far (depending on whether 1-0 or 3-2 is better)

I think there were a lot of positives going forward from yesterday's game. Negatives too at CB and I think Capoue.
If we win our next 3 games, all will be forgotten.
