Positives from today's game...

These are my questions and fears also. Do you mean, Capoue, Paulinho or dembele is stealing a living? It's telling that I could see an argument for it being any of these three!

Dembele IS good enough IMO. The other 2 are just not up to it in this league.

Call me optimistic I guess, but I don't see it all that bad.

Was today's effort poor? Yes.

Do we have a borderline top 4 squad? Yes.

Were we playing Poch's style today and pressing in waves? No.

For me it all comes down to the last question. Poch was able to make an OK squad at Southampton achieve 8th and bring a lot out of some players who beforehand hadn't done much. We have a squad capable of much more, we just have to get comfortable playing to his liking and pressing from the front.

At the moment we're playing the high line but pressing lazily throughout the pitch. That's surely not what Poch wants, and wasn't what he had his Southampton side doing. Today it seemed like Lamela was the only one who would venture forward to put even token pressure on the keeper. Poch's Southampton side would press in waves.

Give Poch and the players (other than Ade and Paulinho you can rip them if you'd like they're awful) some time and stop complaining along the way. If in about 8 months time we're not playing any better or showing any signs of improvement, go ahead and have at him. But lay off him for now and come to grips with the fact that our next few months aren't always going to bring the results that we want.

Ha ha this is hilarious. None of us are actually knee jerking, it is just reality!

We have an average squad. The bale season we had some quality players. Sandro, Siggy, Dempsey, Defoe....we have no one exciting or anyone that can score!

Not sure if serious.

Truth is mate, and anyone with even a little bit of sense knows, too early to say anything re what we can expect from team and Poch

Team lacked urgency today, did see a few nice pass attempts (you could see what we were trying to do)

Very poor games from Vlad, Ade and Paulinho (although he was just a sub), for the rest, the pace was just wrong
The decent - Lloris usual good, (actually throwing out the ball more, seems he is working on his one flaw), cameo moments from Lamela & Eriksen, even Lennon was a bit of a spark as a sub

Hopefully this is just that **** day at office game and we move on

The former.... Absolutely woeful player. Spends the entire game taking the easy option standing between our two centre halves and yet still seems to manage to end up the wrong side of the opposition's midfielders when they break, complete waste of space.

i wonder if youd have said this if we had won.

After 30 minutes I said to the guys around me - we will lose this 1 or 2 nil. After 60 minutes they all agreed. As 90 minutes approached we all thought it would be a travesty on west Brom if we had nicked an equaliser. We had no shape, cohesion or attacking threat for about 95% of that game.

Positive: at least we managed one shot on target. In our previous game - we didn't.
Negative: we didn't score from it.

We have an average squad albeit with some potential. If you were to pick a best spurs XI of the last decade of the current lot only Lloris would be in it, possibly eriksen.

Herein lies the rub. The constant, subtle chipping away of quality has left us with an upper mid table squad these days. I think we look like a team that could easily be occupying 8 - 11th in the league this season.

The players just aren't very good. Not the standard we've been used to for the best part of a decade. The team looked rubbish on paper before kick off yesterday, then it turned out to be rubbish on the pitch. Poor.

No way at all. Top 4 squad? Barely 8th. And id take 8th now, we have an average squad full of average players. Everton will finish above us, Southampton probably will. victims will and united will. That's not even taking into account that West Ham look a hell of a lot better than us and will probably pip us too!

Chelsea arsenal city obviously top 3 so you do the math with those mentioned above!

For the record my Spurs XI 2004-2014 would be:

Lloris 12-
Walker 11-
Benny 06-14
King 04-12
Dawson 05-13
VDV 10-12
Modric 08-12
Carrick 04-06
Bale 07-13
Berbatov 06-08
Keane 04-10

i think you, and several others, are being way OTT with damning of our squad quality tbh - i don't think right now we are top 4 quality i agree but we're well on a level footing with those just outside - and with a few players potentially capable of improving us further.

United just conceded 5 and lost to Leicester, City lost at home to Stoke, victims lost to Villa and West Ham and Everton just lost at home to Crystal Palace - our results this season are no better/worse than those who should be around us come the end of the season.

I don't think I am. I've said earlier since bale we haven't got anyone exciting, quick (apart from Lennon) or anyone that can really beat a player. Lamela has shown glimpses but he's not quick and I'm not sure if the pace of the premier league is too quick for him.

We used to have vDV bale modric king Defoe Lennon (when he was good) all in the same team and we carried some average players like Hutton, Gomes (who was a bit of a clown) Jenas, Crouch (who offers a lot more than soldado and Ade) and we had Huddlestone who was a superb passer and shooter of the ball.

Our only class players IMO is Lloris, Verts and that's about it. The jury is still out on Lamela and Eriksen goes missing, his only contributions of late have been a few free kicks and that goal last week.

The rest can Fcuk off. We have hardly any pace and have no one that can beat a man, no one exciting at all and no one that will score us from 15 to 25 goals a season. Ade is getting on and is a lazy **** and is favourite to be our top scorer.

I agree. If you put Chiriches, Rose, Kaboul, Capoue, Paulinho, Chadli, Ade, Bentaleb, Lennon, Townsend, Dier etc into Sunderland shirts, or West Brom shirts, not only would you not bat an eyelid; you would also think that the opposition was a bit shiit and we should take them to the cleaners.

Some of those players in the list have potential - but they're not being blooded underneath quality players like Modric or Carrick - these are our first choices! We simply are not very good, have bought badly and are in a bit of a mess. We can sort it out, but it very much looks like we are back to square one... right back to the Summer of 2004 when we had the Arnesen overhaul.

There is just no quality in there!
