Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Writing as a native of Camden Town I never knew any of my fellow Catholics vote Conservative, it was either Labour or Communist.

I was thinking more British establishment, rather than decedents from more recent Irish immigrants (which Camden is traditionally rich in since the navvies). In the sense of both being preservers of tradition, hierarchy, patriarchy and conservative values etc. You wouldn't get say anti-abortionists in other parties. Iain Duncan Smith, Edward Leigh, Damien Hinds, Therese Coffey - that sort of demographic

The British Establishment is a very narrow group to base voting figures on, most of the qualified population have been able to vote since 1928.

So they all voted in a bloc along religious lines?

It does explain why followers of the most supremely conservative hierarchical institution in the Western World would vote left wing - because they were told to!

Upper middles classes then. Tunbridge Wells summer fete phalanx. Most of those are high Protestant instead, but there's a decent proportion that have remained Catholic since the Reformation

No it seemed mainly due to their financial and social position. Conservatives never seemed an option to the working class.

@Gazza you moaned about generalisations and then it was pointed out that had made them too. Then you pivoted to some other topic. You can read it back if you like.

Leave it out. It’s pretty basic. But you don’t need to press me about my stance. You really do get more confused than many very easily. Especially saying that you don’t practice Islam yet observe fasting. Enjoy your Sunday.

Sectarianism in voting exists it’s that basic. That’s across all religions in varying degrees. It’s a very simple point. And if you think that’s quite sweeping then so be it. Boring.
