Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that Jermain Defoe and Gylfi Sigurdsson both figure in his first-team plans this season.
Defoe has been consistently linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in recent weeks, following the arrival of Spanish striker Roberto Soldado in a club-record deal.
Sigurdsson also faces a fight for regular football following the acquisitions of Paulinho and Nacer Chadli during the close season, but Villas-Boas remains adamant that neither player will be sold this summer.
He told The Express: "They are players we count on 100%.
Sigurdsson is completely in our plans.
"Defoe is a hero for Tottenham and
has been doing well. He faces competition which he has always faced during his career."
Spurs are also in talks to complete a deal for Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue ahead of Sunday's Premier League opener against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park
