OMT. Tottenham v Burnley.

Was sober when I watched it but not so now.

It was like going back in time eight months. We didn’t let them have a second on the ball - a very well deserved win.

the xG from there is probably lower than people expect, also, what are you coached to do in that situation? hard and low at the keepers feet
Or go between the legs, which he did in his second attempt. Problem was it was a superb reaction from Pope.

Or open his body to lift it with a bit of curl to the far side. The only way for the keeper to get to that would be to commit as soon as he shapes his body, in which case he just side doors it into the near side.

Fairly standard technique from that position.

What an evening that was! It was so great to see us bounce back and put in a supremely dominant performance.

The conditions were perfect for football, cool but not too cold with a light mist that left the pitch nice and slick.

I was sat in the James Hargreaves stand two rows from the field with a couple of mates. We were among the home supporters, fantastically close to the action but a little too close to the locals for my liking. :D It was so difficult to not go too OTT when we scored.

Anyway, some observations:

We were just so much quicker than them, the contrast in style of play was stark. The cleanliness and quickness of our movement up close really was breathtaking. Counter attacks were brutal.

I thought Sanchez, Dier and Vertonghen were wonderful, we gave them next to nothing in the air (which was basically their plan A, B and C) the only blip defensively came from Aurier but we got away with it and he was largely solid for the rest.

Sissoko was very good I thought, despite missing a nailed on chance to score. He broke up play really well and made intelligent little passes. He looked like the kind of player who was hyped so greatly at Toulouse.

Eriksen was also incredible to watch in the flesh, he works so hard and just made things happen. His close control and work in tight areas is second to none.

You run out of superlatives for Harry Kane; strong, brave, commanding, committed, technically brilliant. He was everywhere and the best player on the pitch by a mile.

There was a great moment around the 80 minute mark during a break in play where Poch called him over and gave him a big hug and rev up. He's our co-captain out there as far as I can see.

The home fans deserve respect for mostly hanging around until the end and singing in fine voice, my favourite chant was "Nobody likes us, nobody likes us, nobody likes us, we're super Burnley from the north"

Aside from that the atmosphere truly was hostile and the stick for Delle Alli in particular bordered on sickening.. It just didn't stop, even at the end of the game as the players left the field to applause he was pelted with a barrage of vile abuse.

It was hard not to feel for the lad, but he needs to find a way to feed off it and not let the crowd see that he's frustrated. At times his attitude was a catalyst for the home fans, which in turn spurred on the home team.

Finally a note on our collection of away fans, just fudging brilliant! They're everything that I was advocating for in the days after the Emirates Marketing Project match. Pure support, signing Poch's name at every chance. Support for Dele Alli when he was copping it terribly and humble in victory. Just a model for how to be a true fudging supporter.

I wish I could have been sat amongst them. But to watch them from a small distance away, I was as proud of them as I was of the players.. Absolutely fantastic from start to finish without having to resort to any vile abuse, that I could detect.

So a brilliant night all round. The beers went down very sweetly afterwards, once we had managed to survive navigating out of a very dissatisfied Turf Moor and getting the fudge out of Burnley.

Merry Christmas guys.

COYS!

Edit: thought I'd tag @thfcsteff as he'd asked for a full report.

Classic hindsight analysis. It was a standard finish, he’s not a striker. If it was anyone other than Sissoko you wouldn’t of even bothered commenting. Well done Sissoko for busting a gut to try and score, didn’t see anyone else sprinting half the pitch to go through.....

No..no you all have it wrong..
scenario..
Nice ball comes along ground to striker..
Striker thinks must do what I've been coached
One to one..keeper in x position thinking where's this f ing c gonna put the ball..
Striker kicks ball hard an low
Ball hits keeper straight in bolleux
Stretcher squad come on..

Moral..of story..
coaching can be a load of bolleux..

Kane and Son iirc were pelting it off to the left.

The ball to Sissoko though was the right one as he was in the better position.

But hey, credit to him for making the right run, getting it on target twice. Just a shame it wouldn't go in for him.

TBH, Son's miss in the second half was worse, as was - in a way - Kane's over hit pass for Eriksen.

But, what a performance. Lovely to watch. Well deserved, should have been five.

Capitalised on those around us dropping points. Let's hope we can maintain it on Boxing Day.

Son had the keeper bearing down on him and had to shoot in an instant. He missed, badly, and it was a poor miss - but I dont see how it was worse than Sissoko who had more space and time and less pressure.

But - credit where it was due. It was a cracking run by him, as it was also a quality pass from Alli to find him. It was a good move - its a real shame it wasnt finished because it really deserved to be.

Yeah fairly standard, just copy what son did, oh no that went into orbit, well harry, oh no that one went high and wide.
Dead easy them chances, quality players never miss 'em.

Neither of those players had the time Sissoko did from there.

He could have stopped the ball (well, he probably couldn't but a footballer could) and hit it dead with the time he had.

Son's miss was terrible, but he had to hit it quickly - there was no chance to force the keeper the way Sissoko could have
