OMT. Tottenham v Burnley.

No, they let us play. They were wide open, end to end basketball stuff.

They were without Ward and Tarkowski yet they came out and let us through on goal about 10 times.

Note from the BBC "It's testimony to Spurs' performance that they are the first away team to score three goals in a league game at Turf Moor in almost three years - since Crystal Palace"

Not for me... it is testimony to them opening up and trying to take the game to us, they wouldn't do that against City or Utd IMO. We did well... but there were lots of mistakes and Burnley gave us a lot of help.

Nah man, I think this was all us. Burnley don’t let anyone play. Despite the injuries they are always incredibly well organised but we cut through them so many times to suggest we were getting something very right.

I said it at half time, I thought we would win this comfortably because we looked like we were back to being a Poch Spurs team. We were always looking forward, always running beyond, always pressing, it was relentless and they couldn’t live with it.

We always play like this in the second half of seasons though, and I hope this is the beginning of us kicking into gear.

A fine performance in the end, Harry with three, again - equals Shearer's record, still another game to get more goals for 2017

Poche's 'revisit' of principles proved right again, we were dominant, but still not as clinical as we could be (frightening) if we want to cement top four this season. I thought Aurier and Sissoko played well and were very important, Sanchez coming back in I thought made us look stronger at the back, Dier could move forward in front of the back four which makes such a difference. Nice to see we have rose and lamela and dembele coming on

But Kane's finishing and mentality s just something else, well done again that young man - HE'S ONE OF OUR OWN !!!

Onwards and upwards

Well, good game and good result in the end - but those tense first 65-odd minutes really were avoidable. We coulda had five, shoulda had ten. Some terribly bad misses in there, a lot of leaden touches around the penalty area in crucial moments...but hey, we're making good chances again, and that's what's important (as @Robspur12 pointed out) when combined with a generally solid performance all-round. Credit to Kane for doing what he does, which is scoring the most English goals of all time and doing it relentlessly, eternally - incessantly. Alli had a decent game - two assists, didn't get wound up, left the field able to stick two up at the mongs in the stands. Eriksen and Son were sub-par, but hey ho, we won, no biggie. Sissoko was good - really, aside from his eye-splittingly bad misses (twice), he had a good game. Assisted Kane for the second with a great through ball to boot.

Dier was okay - didn't really think he did much, but he didn't do anything wrong. Aurier was good down the right (Poch, *please* start him over Trippier going forward) - Davies was okay. Verts and Sanchez were good and solid, apart from two shaky moments (one in each half). Lloris was fine - didn't have much to do, and maybe got lucky on the one where he completely lost a challenge to allow that bloke to score (80th minute? Something like that), but otherwise fine.

And, generally, it was a good game, a good performance, a damn good result and hopefully a good start to our festive season. :)

Although it could/should have been 5 or 6, lets not forget a 0-3 win, away at Burnley - who WERE a top 6 side, a team keeping clean sheets and playing very well, getting lauded in the media, this is a really decent result. Yes, we thoroughly deserved the win, but this is a great result, enhanced by Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool dropping points.

It did indeed look like a "second half of the season under Poch" type of performance today. Reminded me of when we smashed Norwich away a couple of years ago - that match really kicked us into gear.

Really thought at one stage it had 1-1 written all over it. Should have had more faith, excellent win and quickly nullified last weeks -3 hit on the GD

Didn't watch or listen to the game but followed it on here, from what I read we were wasteful, sloopy, lots of players letting us down, poor selection from manager, but could have won by 6 or 7. That commentating isn't as easy as it seems.

Our early goal obviously played a huge part in that. Could very well have been one of those frustrating games if not for that.

I dont think thats true.

I think Burnley have been outperforming themselves all season, playing the way they set up today.

Watching the game I just thought it was completely obvious the absolute gulf in class between the two sets of players.

And the result was a fairly predictable result of that gulf.

I dont think Burnley were as good as they can be, but I think thats largely because of how we played rather than them having a mare. Mid way through the first half they had 25 passes, we had around 100. That and 60-70% possession. They simply couldnt hold the ball long enough to build any kind of rhythm/momentum, which was to our credit, IMO of course.

I fancy us to surprise them, score early and win by 3 or 4 goals. Burst the Burnley bubble, now is the time we normally kick into gear under Poch.

Well, I got one right for once!

Really fancied us today, so pleased that we put in an excellent performance. We can get on a run now, we looked like Poch's Tottenham today.

Did we play 4-2-3-1? Whatever the actual formation we looked better than we often do with three at the back. I’m fearful we will go back to three CBs when Toby is fit to accommodate all three even though I’m not sure this is best formation for the team?

Stick with 4 at the back and Dier in midfield.
