I haven't said he'll be off in January. Next summer, regardless of whether or not Friedel retires, may be a different story.

Anyway, whichever way it resolves, I hope and think it won't come to that!
 
But anyway, hopefully it all comes out well and we emerge with a nice, comfortable 3-0 win today.

Next summer he will realise he will be number one so why leave? Unless he feels betrayed etc

This is an imprtant point. It depends a lot on what was said in the negotiations to sign him, and what his expectations were. I assume he could fairly easily walk into a top French side, and I'm sure he would prefer to be playing, so I don't think it is that unrealistic to talk about his going in January -depending on what his expectations were in the first place.
