Lamela's touch knocked the player's foot forward, he chose to then move his foot sideways and kick his own foot.

Clever dive, but a dive all the same.
 
Setting aside the quality of reffing, Wanyama is a problem for me. I think Dier does that job better, we don't need both, and I'm worried Dier is going to get unsettled. Wanyama runs around a lot, but seems suspect positionally. We were very solid last season with just Dier there -don't know why we have changed it.
 
They just pump the ball long in the enormous space between our midfield and defense everytime we lose the ball. We need to rectify that somehow, otherwise we'll concede more in the second half for sure.

Since when is contact = foul? It's a contact Sport. Yes Lamela's foot touched his but at it doesn't mean he's fouling him. It's a coming together rather than a rule break deserving of a goal conceded punishment.

That said, we've looked absolutely terrible. Scary how much better Liverpool look and how they've been able to breeze through our midfield.
 
Half time. 0-1. We have been second best here all half. No control in midfield. Dier looks one paced. No quality fro Alli, Eriksen or Lamela. These three need to do much better second half against Liverscums dodgy defence. Very disappointing so far.

In all my years playing and refereeing I've never seen such a lazy decision by a referee. There was no trip, Firmino's heel caught Lamela and then he stubbed his foot in to the ground, that was what caused him to go down, there was no trip, no intent and certainly no fudging penalty..

Offs! You don't even believe that yourself! Just take it on the chin. It was a pen, the ref gave a pen, we're 1-0 down, and we have been dreadful.
 
Cant have too many complaints about all that. They have deserved to be ahead for me

I knows its only HT, but I didnt expect us to win today, thought this might be a 2-2 draw, but what has surprised me is how much quicker and better than us they have been, they seem to winning everything in the tackle and moving upfield twice as quick as us.
Very similar to last seasons home game where they bossed us for 30 mins before tiring.

Today they seem well up for it, and right now I dont see us breaking them down, we just dont seem at the races, whether we need another change maybe Son for Eriksen or Alli I dont know
 
Don't know what everyone expects?. Liverpool always turn up against us. They press as well if not better than us plus we never handle a team that presses US well.

And we won't play against a better front 4/5 all season.

We need more control or one way or another get at their back five, coz that's where they're brick.

He's making for not giving one at the corner and knows he's getting ear bashing from as he goes off.

It was a clear dive. At best the player mistakenly kicked his own foot but there was no reason for the sideways movement of his foot other than cheating.

Dembele is the big miss in midfield. In games where there isnt much space or time on the ball, like today, he'd be ideal.

Ref hasn't been that bad. His worst decision was not giving a pen against Verts. Poch needs to light a fire under them.

unlikely the human brain can react that fast. It looked natural enough to me, was just bad luck. Dont really blame Lamela either. It's not like those stupid lungeing tackles u see some defenders make in the box when the opposition player is running AWAY from goal.
