***OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool

Post match interview on Talksport.

AVB - "I assume responsibilty for the defeat today".

He had the tone of a dead man walking.

What does Zeki Fryers for Kyle naughton do when you're 0-2 dowsn at home?

who will AVB put on when sandro gets injured?

The whole things is so repetitive and depressing. He refuses to try new things except when he randomly tries inverted wingers from time to time.

Naughton was having a shocker, so I imagine the idea was to avoid Conceding more goals and try to stage a comeback. He put on Holtby, who just didn't perform as we know he can. It's disingenuous to say he doesn't try anything new, because clearly a lot of people here think they have all of the answers - anything he does try would attract derision one way or another.

Fryers was needed imo, because Naughton was being mugged off by Sterling all through the first half.
Sandro was injured so hands were tied.
Townsend on and Chadli (a more attacking player) pushed central to help support Soldado.

He did change the team dynamic, but really it was too late and losing Paulinho was the final nail.
What people forget is that playing a 442 against Liverpool would've given them even more control in midfield. At least if it was Ade coming on we would've been ok, because he offers a target. As with Keane and Defoe many moons ago, two little players don't work all that well unless you happen to be able to zip the ball about in midfield with ease.

On way home. Left at 3-0. That was woeful. AVB got it wrong again.

He has to go. And I think he will
Be gone in the morning. Capello was at the game. Bring him in.

Letting Ekotto go, leaving Adebeyor out, not starting Defoe, playing Chadli, playing Dembele out of position......

Sorry but he has to go.

It is Dawsons fault he doesn't lead the line properly though, he should be barking out the orders, keeping the line tight for offside etc and also helping Capoue learn the position and he does none of that.

Spot on, he has been awful recently, really nervy. Lloris has been trying to do his job for him and getting caught out. Vertonghen 's reading of the game has masked his rashness for some time now.

I think the point that someone made earlier was that at half time, we couldn't come back into it with like for like changes. We needed something to change, something dramatic because we weren't going to score 3 goals with like for like changes.

Spot on! When your 2-0 down half time you got to inject some energy into the team and convince them to believe you can turn it around. Switching left back does nothing. He should have switched to 4-4-2 and play with 2 forwards or something that shows the players you want to win and change things.

If you call ****ging off everything he does debating, sure.

I can tell you something i've praised him for:

1) Our away record and performances which have been very very good since he's been manager.

That's it and that's all he deserves (which is pretty big praise being that half our games a season are away).

You on the other hand? deary me it's on Scaramanga levels in terms of excuses (except you sprinkle some bogus stats to boot). It's sad that you're oblivious to it but that's life.

But, we did start the game with a 4-4-2. Paulinho played as nothing but a striker. That was one of the bigger problems initially.

There's two people on this site that you can absolutely not debate anything regarding AVB and you're one of them.

We all know why that is, they both hated Redknapp and just can't admit Levy got it wrong by replacing him with AVB. It's a contentious issue whether he deserved to go or not, but bringing in AVB looks like a complete joke of a decision now. If they can't admit it after 3-0, 6-0 and 5-0 then they never will, it could have been 10 for Liverpool today.

MODS, genuinely sorry for derailing the thread but I believe it's a valid point, I accept whatever decision you make.

You don't mind Benny leaving with no on coming in?

I back that decision if the objective is to be getting a squad of similar personalities, so characters like Benny and Ade aren't going to be the best for us. I don't mind that. Rose is better for the system and it's not good to keep an influential older player on the bench or out of the squad. Rose as first choice with Verts as back up considering our CB depth should have been ok, and Naughton and Fryers if we are absolutely desperate. We were just really unlucky today that we had to play a midfielder at centre back against the in form striker in the world, and our first 2 left back options weren't available.

Real, real shame.

I can see everything he is trying to do, and understand it all. I don't even mind Ade and Benny, it's probably more about their character as opposed to their quality as player, so I can understand if he wants to get a certain type of squad personality.

But something is wrong here. It shouldn't be this bad. Bumps along the way, sure. But this is something else.

I agree. There is something deeply wrong with his approach to games and the actions he makes during those games. The players seem to like him, he defends the players and he seems both intelligent enough and capable enough to be an effective tactician on the field. All the ingredients are there. But somewhere, something has gone wrong with the way he is trying to implement his damn possession-based philosophy and his high line, and when that is combined with the weakness and spinelessness of our current set of players, it leads to days like today.

Sad, but it appears AVB has been sussed out. Should have gone for Rodgers on this evidence. Sigh.

Well, at least we won't have to worry about our parent club swooping in and taking AVB off our hands anymore. I suspect we'd pay them to do it at this stage.

Neither of us derailed the thread mate. It was in direct response to Jordinho's post accusing me of always "****ging off AVB". in turn, i'm also allowed to voice my opinion of what i feel Jordinho is guilty of.

It's probably been mentioned but Christ, how annoying were those commentators? You'd think we had Pele on the bench the way they kept going on about Defoe.

So glad I was not well enough to go this weekend.

And that performance has not helped me feel any better either.

Utterly f#ckin embarassing display. It probably has happened, but I cant remember us ever failing to have a shot on target at home. Pathetic.

Get Jurgen on the phone, Glen,Harry,Michael, (not Fabio though). Pull the trigger now before we lose to West Ham again

I actually fell asleep before the game ... and woke up a good hour after ! After reading the thread and other reports, wow, how depressing !

I don't actually like to knee jerk, but would levy ask baldini for a manager's name ?

Crap, I'm going to have to watch this farce on Spurs TV soon.

To the commentators Defoe is Pele because he's English. They still look on him like the promising youngster who could turn a game on its head. I don't dislike Defoe, but I do dislike the blind media love in for him.

As for Paulinho, I'm not sure even he knows where he's playing these days. He was in the way too often breaking down our own attacks and in my eyes was the man who should've been tracking Henderson for Liverpool's second. His red was completely undeserved though, given the conditions and the way he tried to pull out of it, it was a booking. Suarez' yelp made the refs mind up (not that the biassed sh1tbag needed a reason to screw us on another decision).
