OMT - Tottenham Hotspur vs Borussia Dortmund - 2nd leg

------------------Vorm--------------------
Trippier--Wimmer--Davies--Bentaleb
-----------Winks----Carroll-------------
--Onomah----Mason------Chadli------
----------------Son----------------------

Sub in CCV for Wimmer at half-time.
Is there any way we can avoid playing Wimmer and Son?

Don't want Wimmer picking up a knock until Vertonghen is fit again and Son needs to stay fresh for the league.

It's not only about us, it's about England keeping 4 places in the CL.

So we should play a strong team in case we finish 4th and not 1st,2nd or 3rd a few years down the road?

fudge that play the kids. This fixture is over.

Do what we should have done back in September at the start of this competition and wonder why Alderweireld, Dier, Eriksen, Lamela, Alli and Lloris played 41 full 90 minutes between them in this competition.

So, 8-0? 9-0, perhaps, so we can add a new record that surpasses our 8-0 loss to Koln in the Intertoto Cup way back when.

Sigh.

Or possibly play a full strength team, lose 2-1 (or something like that), pick up a few key injuries and add to player fatigue and go out with our heads held high proudly holding onto the flag of decency and old-fashioned values so our title challenge can drift off like ashes in the damp winds of N17.

To be fair, if the winds were damp, chances are the ashes would just stay stuck together until some poor slob came and slipped arse over head on them, but I know what you're trying to say.

Thanks. It's been a crappy day so my imagery got clumped together, much like the ashes of our season might if terrible unforeseen circumstance reared their ugly heads.

You're partially right in that the time to focus on this set of fixtures was the first leg, so it doesn't matter too much now: but this doom-pocalypse of injuries and player fatigue that evidently awaits us if we put up a fight against Dortmund and give them the game they thought they were getting when they first drew us....eh, can't see it. Plus, we're only 3 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses away from seventy points, as I keep saying: a little variation can be stomached with regard to the CL race. Title challenge.....eh. Leicester are getting all the breaks, and daring to dream is a dangerous move when the achievements we might still end up getting this season, like CL footie, finishing ahead of Arsenal and possibly a record points total (if we reach 73) might be dampened by the disappointment of not winning the title should it go to Leicester.

Agreed. Our first 11 against their first 11 is, at best, an even match. So the chances of us over-turning a 3 goal deficit by playing that first 11 are probably, what, 1 in 10? 1 in 20? And even if tht does materialise, we still have another 5 games to win the trophy

I'm sure Borussia will play half or more team of their reserve players. So this time our reserves can give them a battle and at least nick a draw (which will brighten up first match result and improve club/country UEFA coefficients a bit).
Just don't play Carroll and Mason again in central midfield...

Actually having the two English sides paired in the other toe helps the coefficient as one is through

Similarly city going through in the champs league is a good thing for that

The current Dortmund team would be a good shout for the simi's in the CL next season and finalists is not out of the question!
Our game on Thursday will be a an awkward occasion for us. Not sure what Poch can do in the circumstances.
I was thinking last night of Leicester in the CL, a tough task with current squad.
We need a couple of addition as well they will need quite few with the increase in games.

Yeah, but Italy is already ahead with 0.173 points advantage if you exclude this season's rating. Lazio probably goes to the next stage as well.
Moreover, I fear next season can become even poorer for England, so in two seasons it's quite possible for England to loose one CL spot. Each point is worth of gaining.

Juve and Lazio are still in, so that's on par with Italy, which is the country coming up to overtake the EPL as Europe's 3rd best league.

I could see a European campaign causing a bottom half finish next year for Leicester. It's taken us a decade to grow and build a squad for 4 competitions.

I hate losing any game and I don't want to see us lie down for anyone. But, at this moment in time for our manager, our players, our club as a whole, winning the Bournemouth game is infinitely more important than attempting to overturn a 3-0 deficit against Dortmund.

Bournemouth run around alot, apparently even more than us! They're also currently on a good run, playing with confidence now their PL status is all but secured.

We need to progress beyond Thursday night football and if that means, playing a weaker team this Thursday evening then so be it.
