***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea, Tue May 19th, 8.15pm, Stamford Bridge ***

I think we might be clutching at straws here.

There is NO WAY they will not be up for this one. They have only lost to us at SB once in 35 games. They have a good enough to rotate their engine room and whilst they lost to City, they lost as the better side on the day. There's a fair bit of youth in their side as well so they will recover quickly from a Sat pm match.

Unfortunately, this isn't the "end of Rosenior tenure" team we saw a few weeks back. They've been very credible against Pool and City. We just have to remember that so have we for about 4 or 5 games. Not perhaps at the level we saw them play at Wembley yesterday but good enough to get points in the PL.

Who wouldn't take a Toon win and a draw at SB right now? The Toon game for WHU today is way more important than our game in the relegation battle.

I reckon their fans and the stories they are telling themselves about being responsible for us going down will reach the team and the players and they will feel well up for it. Hopefully not more than us though.
It's gonna need that communication,as this Chelsea group have very little connection with a Tottenham/Chelsea history/rivalry. Plus I don't think they have any connection with their own fans atm tbh.

One plus, is they can't send us down on the night.

Totally agree, there's some definite straw clutching going on - but desperate times and all that. You're right about the West Ham game being extremely important - getting 4 points from 6 is a fudging big ask, we haven't beat anyone of note under RDZ. If we are left needing 2 points that feels a lot more attainable....

Agreed.

I've absolutely no idea where this confidence of us getting anything from Chelsea is coming from.

Given the fixtures, I'd take us needing a point on the last day if offered now.

Would take a draw here. That would mean no matter the West Ham result, we will be ahead of them with only Everton at home to go. If they lost at Saudi Sportswashing Machine, a draw at Chelsea would end it. If I remember correctly, goal difference is the first separation factor when equal on points and theirs is abysmal

I’d prob take us needing a win against Everton.

If spammers win today we are in deep doo doo.

If we need 1 point, amazing.
If we need 3 points, doable.
If we need 4 points…gulp.

Agree with you, no chance they aren’t up for it and they’ve definitely recovered a performance level from the end of the Rosenior days.

I think we just have to hope that we can raise our game to at least get a point. I fully believe RDZ will have us prepared, but Chelsea simply have a lot of talent.

It’s been such a weird season where even the bottom half teams have all seemingly been able to put strong runs of form together towards the end. I used to think even last season that when we needed to raise our level, raise the intensity, we would, and we would win. Now I just don’t think that’s possible. Everyone is either too good, or the physicality of the league, man to man marking and direct play has just served as a leveller.
