If he retreats then they play the through ball and someone else is 10 yards clear.Just watched again, you’re wrong. He has to retreat and not get drawn to the ball. It’s so fudging stupid. He has to try and protect the goal as his number one priority, not go chasing the ball. It’s so fudging stupid. So stupid.
There's nothing manly about players doing their jobs. It's the minimum required of any professional.Don't contradict @scaramanga. We need more REAL MEN making REAL MEN tackles so we can be PROUD.
This isn't good enough. The players showed some energy, but there is no plan and especially the passing is atrocious. Both the execution and the decision making. Too many passes to man marked players with their backs to goal. Too many sideways passes and too little movement and runs. The few runs that are made are not picked up on. Everything turns into nothing. Trying the same over and over and over again. Professionals looking like they've just started playing football. I've seen this movie before. It didn't end well, but it started a new era to be fair.
Players whining about wanting to play in the CL, but failing to turn up when they do. But the worst, and that's on Conte, is not changing things up when they're not working (incidentally also Pochettino's biggest flaw). You can have 50 players on the bench and sub half the team. I welcomed Conte for supposedly being a cynical arse kicker of weak minds, but that's well and truly gone. So has his wish to stay with us, it seems. We need a total overhaul of our core team. This isn't about ability, it's about mentality. We have lacked that for, pretty much as long as I can remember. Bad mentality breeds bad mentality. I suspect that the most experienced and vocal in the team are the biggest culprits. I have no problem languishing mid-table for a couple of seasons if a plan is put forward, and properly backed. At present it's a patch up job and a spiral into nothingness.
Or we can continue as we do, changing managers every 18 months, buying rejects from so called bigger clubs and gunning for top 4 into eternity.
Nah, he's gone.
It's his third.
We've lost all three.
And it is partly his fault, tbh. If he had signed a long-term deal a while ago, fans would probably have grumbled but accepted it as part of an up-and-down time of growth.
He hasn't committed to us. So fans increasingly don't want him here acting like he's doing us a favour, when the 'favour' is losing every game.
So, he makes a rod for his own back, really.
I still think he can turn it around if he signs a contract tomorrow, but otherwise he is done - sacking is a formality, and probably should be done sooner so Poch can have an extended pre-season figuring out what needs doing.
Same par as Jose or worse? We have also had AVB and a few more I'm guessing. That's enough of that for me. Conte-ball is the most atrocious brand of football I have seen in 33 years. We still lose when we shouldn't, we just play uglier football. Conte doesn't want to be there, and I don't want to watch his team. Here it comes #conteout

Well said that man
Whilst Conte's tactics are thoroughly inappropriate for both our club and the situation, do you think he told them not to press? You cannot blame the players for tonight IMO. The minute before half time summed it up for me. Milan knocking it about between them in their half. Harry chasing a lost cause. No one else allowed to cross the halfway line because it’ll break the 5-4-1 defensive shape.
That is 200% on the manager. I’ve had enough of him.

Now if he has some kind of crystal ball and can see their player's going to be through then I agree. But we're pushing up and chasing the game. He's going to get caught like that and either makes the tackle or does a Son and just watches them go clean through.

I can't imagine any manager working at better than schoolboy level telling a team to play like that.
He's running at 90 degrees to the play, their player on the ball is flying past Porro. One or the other of them is going clean through, the only way to stop that play is at source. He left their furthest man forward to charge in. I’m sorry but if you think he was justified doing what he did, I can’t believe you’ve ever played football.
But it just not tonight, been going a while no?Fans asking for the managers head, when it’s his first game back after going under the knife.
I tend to agree that a new face is probably our best chance of getting CL, provided it is the right face. There is a lot of money riding on the call here. Its a good point and the main one which needs making. Who is best placed to finish off the season? Conte? A full-time Poch? A caretaker (Poch etc)? Tuchel?
I really dont see Conte is the answer, and we're dropping (in terms of performances) like a stone. We need a lift

Too many passes to man marked players with their backs to goal. Too many sideways passes and too little movement and runs. The few runs that are made are not picked up on. The way they've been playing lately, yes.Absolutely. You can see Son chomping at the bit on the halfway line but he’s been instructed to go no further. I’ve seen it from lads like Bentancur and PEH at the games this season. It’s absolutely the manager’s instructions.
Do you honestly think Son and Kulu would stop on the halfway line and watch milan knock it between them of their own accord?
But it just not tonight, been going a while no?
Here you goHe's running at 90 degrees to the play, their player on the ball is flying past Porro. One or the other of them is going clean through, the only way to stop that play is at source.
The energy looked good to me as mention, but it simply cannot be instructions to hold the ball until you totally run out of options or playing towards the most marked man or 45 degrees backwards. Or having half-hearted crosses into a heavily populated box as your main source of attack or whatever we should call it. I blame the manager for not having some sort of play (I bet the chalkboard in the dressing room can be sold off as "Brand New" on eBay), but the execution of whatever instructions he's giving simply can't be his fault. It just can't. He's supposed to be a winner. You cannot blame the players for tonight IMO. The minute before half time summed it up for me. Milan knocking it about between them in their half.
