*** OMT: Spurs vs Sunderland*** Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday 4th January, 3pm

I don’t think we need to rely on him to be creative. We just need him to make the pass that any international football is more than capable of making. That failure to find RKM was just bad execution, nothing to do with what type of player he is.

The problem I have with Richi is him getting eased off the ball with his back to goal. I want him to set himself in a good starting position in a way that the defender has to foul him. He doesn't find that position and he doesn't jump for aerial balls with any aggression. The outcome is that the ball just comes back at our midfield. He managed to do it once magnificently and rolled his man who then took the booking. We need way more of that from him, especially in 2nd halves. Does he have it in him to lead the line better? I'm not sure.

Pretty simple answer.... no. But we have no one else

Agree with your assessment. As for VDV he is exciting to watch, but I don't think he's a great defender. I actually think Danso is a better defender than him, with our problems at LB I really would have thought it was worth playing VDV there and Danso CB....

I agree. Not sure Danso is as good if asked to play more frequently however. What we forget is VDV is 24. Not an experienced CB at all.

We have an inexperienced side. The more they play together, analyse what happened in each game the more they’ll grow. Fans love promising young players but rarely want to extend them time and space to make mistakes learn and develop.

Yeah it wasn't meant to be a big criticism of VDV, just acknowledgement of his current defensive level and would think it makes sense to play Danso who is the better defender and have him at LB for more natural left sided balance. Plus whenever I've seen him at LB it just really suits him....

I mean there are Balesque tendencies to his game. Probably a bit late in his career to make the change, and he is good most of the time at CB. His sweaping up whilst giving up a lead to the attacker is his party piece. He needs to be better on the ball and a bit more aware. He spoke recently about how Frank is helping him become a better player. And I think he is the best we have at CB with Romero. Just a lot of games and maybe lost some focus.

Danso/Dragusin/Vuskivich…VDV could well play at LB or in a 3 man defensive setup. It would be fun to see - how Romero and VDV step out of defence in such a setup. Both have ability further up the pitch. They have more cool attacking than many of our attackers 😀

No they booed Frank. I was there and you could hear them gearing up for it. They even Booed Frank's name at the start when the lineup was announced.

He's basically a dead man walking amongst the match going fans at this point. It's win games or or nothing now.
Thank you

Time to cut our losses i think

Continuing with him is like spurs at home, pointless.

Whilst on the subject of embarrassing boos and chav culture, when will that dinosaur Paul Coyte get his P45? The disrespect he shows visiting teams when reading out their team is beyond embarrassing. It’s not even funny. Speaking so fast and dismissive. If I was a player that alone would fire me up

I thought doing that was common etuiquette in the art of sports speaking. I don't think I have been to a single game (football and hockey) where this hasn't been the case. Up your own, whisper or make fun of the opposition. When my hockey team play their biggest rivals (a team from rural Norway) they play cow moos and this ironic farmer like song full blast over the speakers. Anything less would be against the rules! Haha.

I think the big question for VDV this season was could he be a box defender of high quality in the same way he’s a high line defender who might be one of the best in the world at that specific role.

And for most of this season I think he’s shown up pretty well. I’m not sure why but he’s level dropped pretty dramatically in that period before their goal. But they are the sort of mistakes you simply can’t make as a box defender, or in a team that is intending to sit back and deny space.

Fair enough, but not for me. Maybe it’s the man himself. I dunno, he gives off 70’s comedian with an iffy past vibes

I don't think he is, I can't remember him winning a defensive header from a cross, and he often lets verticals bounce near the edge of our box.

Yeah, Spurs have revamped in a lot of the media departement lately, young blood coming in for the old, so I reckon he hasnt got long left.

He already got booted once - back in 2021. But there was uproar so the club had to get him back
