Well, strap me down and call me Linda!
I'm calling it right now, damn my eyes if I'll wait! We're going to win the league! (Sure, Trump is going to stage a coup in the states, start world war III and tinkle on our celebrations, but what the heck...)
I cannot express how impressed I was with that performance. Sure, anyone who look at the "basic" figures will say that this was a smash-and-run-steal, but looking behind the numbers I'd say that the only real clear-cut chances in that game were ours, and we scored on both. We also had the most beautiful attack of the game (Kanes offside-goal).
Just about all the City-chances were half-chances at best. True, the best version of this City-team hardly needed more than half-chances to score, but this year they've failed to do so on a regular basis.
This was a perfect gameplan. Stay compact, stay narrow. Hit them with pace. Also, notice how we've started to roll the ball to our defenders again versus the best teams, inviting them on before we play out one-two-combinations? And the midfield-players invite pressure before they either play the ball, or twist away? Almost as we did under Pochettino at his best, with Dembele and Eriksen. But with a tad more security...
Ok, I might be a bit up on a cloud right now, carried away a bit. But I don't care.
