OMT Spurs v City Sunday 4pm

I know but you don't really need two players there. Schneiderlin would be enough, as he has better quality and engine than either of Mason or Bentaleb. More importantly they need to know what they are doing.
Although, Wamyama is a capable player too whom we could do with.

I will place a bet that in five years time, when Bentaleb is the same age Schneiderlin is now, he will be a vastly superior player.

Mason is pretty ordinary. Hate to say it, but it's true.

Agreed, he is not GHod's gift to the midfield but he is hardly the footballing equivalent of Joseph Merrick! I suspect some here are (thankfully) too young to remember the absolute dross and drain of players such as Neil McNabb, Andy Gray and even Jason 'Dozey' Dozzell, who makes Mason look like a young Pirlo!!!!

And not forgetting the obscene sums of money spent on the players' wages (Figures from http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/) over those 5 seasons:

Chelsea = £883,000,000
Emirates Marketing Project = £947,000,000
Arsenal = £699,000,000
Man Utd = £843,000,000
Liverpool = £649,000,000
Tottenham = £444,000,000
Southampton = £166,000,000
Swansea = £163,000,000
West Ham = £272,000,000
Stoke = £266,000,000

So adding the wages + transfer spending over the 5 years together:

Chelsea = £1,155,000,000
Emirates Marketing Project = £1,275,000,000
Arsenal = £797,000,000
Man Utd = £1,116,000,000
Liverpool = £779,000,000
Tottenham = £423,000,000
Southampton = £198,000,000
Swansea = £177,000,000
West Ham = £354,000,000
Stoke = £320,000,000

Probably no coincidence that the only 3 clubs to win the league in that period have spent over a £billion each!
Brilliant work; please make a chart (omit the bottom 4) and ensure someone on Twitter makes it go viral. Ta

you can't say a defensive player missing a one on one can cost you the game, Kane's one on one was far easier because thats in his skill set

I thought Mason had his problems today but he wasn't the difference

I'm shocked hart didn't get the mom rather than aguero
So he's a defensive player now? Most of his games in the youth teams and loan spells have been in the "#10" role. And if he's such a massive defensive player, why does he rooster up so massively for the goal when there is only one right thing to do; follow the run, which he didn't.

We had a decent game, realistically we created chances (could have been 3-0 up in first 5 minutes), we restricted them and played well.

City had a plan for Kane and (interestingly) our FBs .. outside of Kun & Hart, don't feel their players did that well either ..

And before the game people here were seemingly expecting Aguero and Silva to pull us apart almost at will. Perhaps not without reason considering what City have done to us in the past, but I really don't think that was the case yesterday.

you have me at a disadvantage here, whenever i've seen him he's been in deep midfield, he always looked awkward when in scoring positions to me as well, very little composure too, hence my assumption

I didn't realise he had scored so many goals when out on his loan spells

I think the point was more that it seems unfair to single out Mason for blame when our striker had misses that were just as bad.

He made a mistake against Aguero for the goal. Had he tracked him and the pass had come half a second later I'm sure people would be saying "why didn't he just play him offside, no fudging awareness". It's a mistake in a 3 vs. 3 counter attacking situation with Silva on the ball and Aguero on the move, with plenty of space to run into. Show me the player that doesn't make mistakes in those situations and I'll show you a world class player. You make it sound like it's a schoolboy unforced error.

that was a mistake, he had a better chance of stopping aguero by going with him and being between the ball and the goal, lets not forget it wasn't great by Lloris either, he saves that shot 99 times out of 100

I agree that it was a mistake. I just think some posters, including Kandi, are massively overstating how big of a mistake that was.

I don't think Lloris saves that 99 out of 100 though. Perhaps from an average PL striker hitting it high at the near post, but not against Aguero.

In hindsight I think Lamela could have done more. Leave Zabaleta and pressure Silva instead. Better to have a cross from wide than Silva moving into open space centrally. But again, hindsight. Think more players could/should have done more to get back. At least they got back to make it a 3 vs. 3. Had one more player reacted earlier and sprinted back we could have made it 4 vs. 3 instead and probably stopped it.

Very disappointed with this defeat. ManCity were in bad form coming into this match. But we still couldn't make use of that. With ManCity having lost their last 4 away matches, thought we would do well to beat them. Instead, despite playing well, we just lacked a cutting edge to overcome them. Ofcourse, it is afterall our speciality in helping out teams in trouble ! It is reallly annoying that teams like Burnley and Palace can beat ManCity but we can't. It is clear, we just don't have the mental strength now and have to rely on individual players like Kane to win matches.

Disappointingly, we have become a one-man team this season. We only seem to win when Kane scores nowadays. But unfortunately for us, Kane seems to have lost his form ever since getting that senior debut for England. Since then he has only scored 1 goal in 5 matches now. Not surprisingly, we have only won 1 in 5 matches during that period. Kane seems to have lost his goal scoring instincts now. He should have scored the chance early in the match which he wasted. You know the Kane of pre-England days would have scored that. Now he looks like the Kane of last season when he used to look clumsy. Similiarly, Eriksen doesn't look like the player who scored many goals earlier in the season. He had another poor match but not sure it was right to replace him so early in the 2nd half. Chadli was also disappointing despite scoring in his last 2 matches.

Really annoyed that Pochettino is still stubborn to keep on playing the Mason-Bentaleb partnership in midfield despite their weakness. With the experience that ManCity had, surely we cannot expect to overcome them with a shyte midfield. And it was Mason who was at fault for their goal when he let Aguero unchallenged to score the goal. A more experienced defensive midfielder would have never let Aguero go past him like that. Mason too wasted a golden chance to score when he shot it straight at the goalie late in the first half. It is clear Mason just doesn't have the mental strength in key moments as he has wasted so many goal scoring chances like that this season. Bentaleb had a decent game but he and Mason are simply not good enough if we want to finish in top 4. We should have started with Dembele, Stambouli and Paulinho in midfield. Thought Lamela had a good game as he created that chance for Kane in the first half. But Lamela should have done better with the goal scoring chances he had.

Thought our defence had a decent game as we only conceded 1 goal. But it was annoying the way we let Aguero have all the time in the world to score. It was due to the fact Vertonghen and Fazio went up to help our attack and couldn't come back in time. It is really stupid to let the defenders join our attacks when we can't stop conceding goals. Also felt Lloris should have done better with the goal as he was beaten at his near post. Lloris too was lucky not to concede much earlier as he slipped when coming to collect a ball. Fortunately for him, Fazio managed to cover for him even if he was lucky not to concede the penalty.

It is really disappointing that we have thrown away any chance that we had to finish in top 4. With all our rivals struggling, it would have helped us greatly if we had won this match. Instead, we failed to do so. In fact, with 1 win in 5 matches, we seemed to have forgotten how to win matches now.

yeah, a lot went wrong in that move, let's not forget it all stemmed from an awful corner

masons decision was merely one mistake in many

I'd say part of that is they knew more about us, they maybe thought they could phone it in against other clubs

also, teams drive each other along, remember that impossible run the goons had 2 years ago, they did that because they had to, we were right with them, if we had dropped a few more points the pressure would have been less and they would have taken their foot off a bit

Not an awful corner at all! Was a very well taken corner that Bentaleb(?) just about got his head to and easily could have scored from. When he didn't make enough of a contact it then bounced very fortuitously for City off a defender and into Hart's arms. Complete coincidence that the ball ended up in his arms ready to launch the break.

I must have mixed em up, I though it was an easy hart claim, my mistake

It is disappointing that we lost, but I cannot understand all the negativity.

I only watched the game late last night, but I honestly think that our first half display at the very least meritted a goal. We can pull apart the move that saw Emirates Marketing Project counter and score, but by that time, we really should've had a goal or two to our name. Dier, Lamela and Kane all had extremely good chances and their misses can just as easily be used as the reason we lost as Mason not knowing what to do with Aguerro. Mason wasn't alone in having a bad game though I do agree that Paulinho should've started, Mason made quite a few covering tackles and blocks when defending against Emirates Marketing Project. As for the lack of a plan B/stubborn Poch. We saw a switch to 442, followed by Ade coming on for Chadli and us ending the game with 3 strikers on the field.

My concerns are more around the loss of shape when Eriksen went off (honestly felt we looked poorer for it) and lack of width down the right. Kane often worked the left hand channel and proved a good outlet, however on the right we had less options and Dier didn't take full advantage of the space down that flank. Obviously, Yedlin and Walker would naturally attack that space, so perhaps it's more to do with the type of player Dier is and whilst I felt he had a good game, that is perhaps the one complaint I could level at him. Kane was too greedy today as well. He should've squared to Chadli in the second half.

I would almost...almost...love to see that, simply to witness the meltdown post-match!!!!!
