Clutching at positives maybe a chance for Bergwijn to regain some confidence, I feel we lack directness without Sonny and too many players reluctant to drop a shoulder and shoot and pass the ball on which allows defences to get set - hopefully something Bale will do address.This.
Depends on how long he is out. In terns of league games we only have one in the next 19 days, and that's United where he probably would not see much of the ball anyway, based on our last 2 visits.
He will be a massive loss in the other 2 comps though
That’s a bigger scandal than the penalty.
Imagine having been at that game if fans were able to be there. Three minute stoppage; no idea what is going on; home having dropped two points.
They are killing the game.
The rule doesn’t say anything about proximity then?
One way of solving this is, if they want to retain this ridiculous rule, is to give an indirect free kick in the instance of accidentally handball.
You sure about the latter bit?IFAB — Handling the ball
It is an offence if a player touches the ball with their hand/arm when:
— their hand/arm has made their body unnaturally bigger
— their hand/arm is above/beyond their shoulder level
The above offences apply even if a ball touches a player’s hand/arm directly from the head or body (including the foot) of another player who is close.
Stop kidding ourselves, we lost today win because we were wasteful In front of goal!
Yes this new rule is dreadful but we were sluggish in the second half especially in front of goal!
They are trying to do the wrong thing 'righter'. You see this all the time in organisations and management. The right this is simple, the video ref should look for big obvious mistakes, and let the ref know. That was the intention, but without knowing it, the management has evolved VAR to be a bit of a monster with video refs looking for any contact at all with an arm in the box.

When I checked last week it didn’t count if in close proximity and I posted the rules on here that confirmed that. I got that off the FA website
Don’t disagree it’s how it’s being applied but I believe it’s being applied incorrectlyI copied it from the Athletic, the last sentence could be comment but it is certainly how it is being applied in England
It was the keeper coachHas it been confirmed whether Kane got that post-match red card? 3 match ban?
It should have mattered as much as the stupid penalty that Southampton got last week

Ill see if I can find it again as I made that post last week when we played Southampton
