Olympic games Paris 2024

Not surprised when she was elected it was obvious she would ban trans competing asap. i think it should have been dealt with by individual sports but the IOC are just like FIFA they must be seen as all powerful.

Personally I felt the IOC passed the buck by allowing individual sports to deal with it previously. There needs to be a trans category which will allow trans athletes to compete. The trans lobbies may not like it, but what’s the alternative.

I would think so you can't ban one without the other can you. If you didn't it would look like they were picking on only trans women which they are but they will not admit it so ban everyone.

It’s more of an issue for trans women competing against women than it is for trans men competing against men, you rarely hear of a trans male dominating in the sports they compete in. But I broadly agree, they can’t just ban trans women as that would be singling them out.

I think some sports like show jumping, shooting, Table tennis, Archery etc are much better equipped to decide if trans people can participate. Can't really have a category with one or two people in it just wouldn't work. Can some sports have trans athletes after the IOC decision we will never find out.

Fair point. Sports where trans athletes don’t hold an advantage is reasonable to have them competing against women. But not for contact sports or events like swimming.

There may not be many trans athletes in a trans category initially, but I’m sure having a trans category will inspire people to compete so the numbers should eventually grow. The alternative is they cannot compete which isn’t fair. Or they are allowed to compete against women which isn’t fair to biological women.
