Official No game this weekend OMT

The conditions are terrible, but they're not going to get any better against Newport.

In particular, Alli's playing far, far, far too slowly - taking too many touches, making the wrong decisions and really slowing us down when he gets the ball. Nothing can really happen up front unless Alli steps it up - I don't know if it's a confidence thing or just him struggling to adapt to the conditions, but that needs to happen.

Apart from him, Aurier's been sub-par, constantly checking back onto his left foot and lingering on the ball. Sissoko's been...eh. Not horrible, but not great. And Sanchez has had a difficult game.

Just a little more initiative and the second half will be a different story. Take the ball first time - cross it first time, pass it first time, don't sit and hold and introspect for hours on end while the game moves on around you. The conditions are the same for both sides - and at the moment, Southampton are passing it with zip and purpose while we just *aren't*.

The player who needs to come off is Aurier, he has been the worst player by a mile imo. The more I see of him, the more I think he is far too slow to play in the style that he does. We'd be better off with Sissoko at right-back, but I'd like to see them both off the pitch to be honest.

Get Wanyama on for Aurier, go 3 at the back with Dier going back into defence, Wanyama centre midfield and Sissoko at right wing-back. 3 at the back gets Davies further forward because the best way for us to score today is Davies crossing it into the box. Get Son involved a bit more centrally that way too, he's struggling to make an impact from wide today.

Dare I say we need to slow it down?

We're letting them play at their pace. We should be controlling it.

Not a great first half. It's been a messy game, perhaps partly down to the conditions, but we're not playing particularly well. We're giving away possession too cheaply in the midfield area, which gives them the chance to play the ball in behind us down the flanks and put in early crosses.

Sissoko, Alli and Son all having poor matches so far. I'd like to see Lamela on for Sissoko rather soon.

Alli has been doing that all year. His first touch passing seems to have disappeared and he wants to do everything himself. Last year he would make a decent pass first time but now he just seems to lose it.

Incorrect. Aurier has been good, considering.
I told you we would be playing with 10 men until Poch hauls off Sissoko with 20 minutes to go. So effectively we only have 20 minutes to win the game, instead of 90.
Aurier only has the Keeper and the middle to pass to

His crossing has not been good. He's had about 4 that didn't even get off the grass.
He also is getting exposed two on one a lot. Poch needs to address this.

He's been complete sh1te. The first goal he was running in treacle, he is always looking for either Sissoko or Sanchez to bail him out, because he has no pace. If we had a fast right-back, Poch wouldn't be playing Sissoko imo.

If we could merge Sissoko and Aurier into one player, we'd have a good full-back. As it is, we have a decent footballer who isn't athletic enough and a decent athlete who can't play football.

need the same game plan to start the 2nd as we did against everton, come out and score straight away, it won’t take much for them to collapse
