For me The Libs are one of the bands that just shouldn't be covered. Most punk based music is like that. Ever heard a decent cover of The Pistols or Clash? Few and far between

This could quite easily be a song by The Police...

As I get older, I realize more and more how awesome REM were.

Who would have thought the band that made this and Everybody Hurts could also write Shiny Happy People?

Such a unique and interesting band.

Love Man On The Moon as well.

Never dug 'out of time' at the time, had to much rag at the time, but agree, maybe now I'm older I'll give it a go again.

Loved

I was an angry teenager at the time, and REM were a bit too much like my parents would listen to.

:ross:

i went both ways..8-[

document to new adventures in hi-fi. automatic was outstanding. out of time was good. monster & new adventures grow on you.

from document, i also went backwards...towards their older stuff...so.central rain, rockville, fall on me, finest worksong, can't get there from here, radio free europe, etc..they have a pretty good early collection.

sigh... after Berry left, as much as i hate to admit it & despite the odd great song...they were as Stipe described it a "three legged dog".

Gifter. try "automatic" instead. more melancholy. out of time, whilst pretty, is folksy. does put people off..for harder stuff, give monster or new adventures a go. but give it a while, it does grow on you. anything after that, i would give a miss...

According to The Pulse Of Radio, VAN HALEN bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, currently acting as touring bassist for CREED and ALTER BRIDGE guitarist Mark Tremonti's solo band, has gotten into a beef with boy band ONE DIRECTION. Van Halen called out the group on Twitter after a run-in with them at a hotel in Birmingham, England, where Tremonti is on tour at the moment.

Van Halen wrote, "Fun fact: Was just insulted by that bricky boy band #OneDirection in the lobby of our hotel this morning!" He continued, "No joke. That ACTUALLY happened. That group of kids in #OneDirection were dingdongheads to (TREMONTI bandmembers Eric Friedman, Garrett Whitlock) and I." Van Halen later joked, "They must call themselves that because all of their hair points in #OneDirection."

Whitlock, TREMONTI's drummer, later tweeted, "Had a run-in with some boy band in the hotel lobby. no worries. I can't take a insult from someone who doesn't even write their own tunes."

The members of ONE DIRECTION have yet to comment.

I've been liking a lot of the stuff I've heard from Jake Bugg so far.

His album has been released this week and looks set to top the album charts. It is an excellent album, and considering the lad is still only 18 a bright future ahead of him.

Just watching the documentary on Freddie Mercury that was on BBC last week, really interesting, what a band Queen were

I heard Green Day cover a Clash song not long ago - it sounded like childbirth
