Bond is a bit of a bastard in the books from what I've heard.

He's more ruthless but I would say that he is less of a smug **** than he is in the films.

I'd recommend reading the books, they are quite easy reading and real page turners. There are some dated attitudes but they are sixty years old and Flemming was hardly progressive at the time.

I'm reading them in sequence. They turn up in charity shops quite often, so I am picking them up when I find them. I'm only on the second one so far (the first being Casino Royale) but I prefer them both to the films.

You read any of the modern adapations ??

I've just finished Solo written by William Boyd in the style of Fleming in the late 60's, I enjoyed it, there was also Carte Blanche written by Jeffrey Deaver a more modern take on Bond

I haven't

Took my Nephews to see Lego Movie, they loved it, giggling and laughing all the way through it which brought a smile to my face, never really heard them like that before, moments for adults to grin, maybe laugh too. Great half term film tbh.

Did you let them use your mobile at any time before the film? Maybe they logged on here and saw what their uncle wrote in Nigeys women thread......

Gravity

I thought it was pretty damn good and worthy of all the BAFTA's

I thought it was massively overrated and was disappointed it won so much. No doubt it's a technically impressive achievement, but I think there are more visually beautiful films out there and I just didn't get into the story or characters or drama at all. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood that day.

I enjoyed Gravity but I watched it an an IMAX cinema and even a Transformers movie can seem like a masterpiece on the giant screen with an 11,000 watt sound system blaring! Have to admit to being a bit underwhelmed with the naff ending and am in no hurry to watch it again at home.

Screen Junkies posted their Honest Trailer for Gravity the other day...

I thought it was a really good film tbh, not a great film but 4 stars out of 5 nonetheless. It's stunning visually no one can argue that. I just think it's become popular to slate it, some people genuinely don't like it and I accept that, but I would bet a lot of people that pasted it secretly enjoyed it.

The most disappointing film I've seen in the last few weeks/months is American Hustle. It was just Ok, nothing special, a lot of style but no substance despite some funny moments.

The best films I've seen recently are 12 Years A Slave and Dallas Buyers Club.
