I think we should forget the likes of LVG. If we appoint him it will show we.never learn at Spurs. Whenever we have gone for so called "proven" managers, they come in and ask for players that are simply unrealistic for where we are as a club at the moment. We had it with Ramos and AVb. When they ultimately dont get the players they ask for it inevitably ends on tears. I really think we should break the bank for proven prem quality on a relative shoe striing my main target would be Martinez secondly would be pochettino.

LVG isn't a 'so called', he is a proven manager and he literally has the best CV available. Realistic or not he is most definitely should be our No. 1 target.

The problem is we're constantly looking to the past for answers. We have a horrifically weak mentality at the club whereby people seriously think the universe is set up to f@ck us over, so regardless as to who we hire or what we try we will fail.

There are some managers whereby you're pretty sure won't succeed such as Moyes, there are some who are some what on the knife edge of success/failure such as Pochettino and then there's managers who you feel very confident will succeed such as Van Gaal.

Van Gaal will give us massive media attention and maybe the sought manager who could be a deterrent to players/agents/club presidents who want to use us a means to an end in the search of more money. Van gaal stamps his authority and focuses on what he has got.

We don't actually know what we want let alone what we need, we had these discussions back in 2012 only for a charlatan to turn up. We have to find the best candidate based on CV (winning trophies) or even gut feeling.

We either lower our expectations (Pochettino) or put everything on the line (LvG).

We can all forget about LVG he is a pipe dream even if united stick with Moyes. Been mentioned earlier but someone like Ancellotti would be great.

I can see Levy sticking with Sherwood for a while though and if Tim can get the players playing In a proper system we might be ok. Just can't see Levy bringing someone like LVG and let them splash the cash on new players - Tim will at least try to bring some of the youth team through. We may have to suck up 6 or 7 the place finishes for a while but long run it might work out.

Who am I kidding lol

Mate van gaal is not proven at all in our league and is old to be starting in an entirely new league. For me he would be a huge gamble. I want a manager who is proven in the premiership and able to work with what we already have without a massive wish list.

Can we?
Where do you think he will go if not to the country where he has publicly stated he wants to work and succeed?
Especially as his current job ends this summer?

Southampton? Villa?

Who would you suggest, that is attainable from the PL, assuming you want a change of coach/manager.

Just watching Grand Prix qualifying and Rudd Guillit is there he said LVG to us is a done deal when talking to bbc in pit lane

whoever. it will still end in tears. but its just so much more dramatic and entertaining with a carlos-clipboard in charge.

Tottenham: Louis van Gaal has met with Daniel Levy - Ruud Gullit

Ruud Gullit says Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has met with Louis van Gaal and claims it is a "done deal" that the Dutchman will take over as Spurs boss.
Van Gaal, 62, will be replaced by Guus Hiddink as coach of the Netherlands after this summer's World Cup.
Spurs named Tim Sherwood, 45, as head coach on an 18-month deal in December.
Former Chelsea manager Gullit said: "I know for sure the chairman of Tottenham was at Van Gaal's house. I think it's a done deal, but you never know."
More to follow.

Hmmmm not exactly confirmation is it

We know that Levy met with LvG before appointing Sherwood. According to the club we haven't spoken to another manager since giving Sherwood his 18 month contract. I still think that LvG coming in this summer is the most likely outcome but I don't see anything new in the Gullit quotes.

A few things to point out re LVG not having EPL experience:

- All the successful premier league era managers have come directly from abroad - Wenger, Ferguson, Mourinho, Benitez, Mancini, Ancelotti

- LVG has successfully managed in the Bundesliga, the league closest to the style and tempo of the EPL of any in the world. So he's not all about slow-paced southern european football

- One of LVG's two assistants from his coaching staff does have EPL experience - Patrick Kluivert had a year at Saudi Sportswashing Machine

I don't really think having EPL experience matter much when a managers concerned. Equally, i don't think him being successful in the Bundesliga matters much either.

I don't really know why you would mention Kluivert having EPL experience when the earlier part of your post was insinuating the league experience didn't matter (which i agree with).

Quite excited by LvG. Has the expereince. Not ideal coaching Dutch nation team and then straight into Spurs. Its not a full pre season really is it? Ideally he'd be watching our games now (which he maybe is) and focused in the summer on Spurs. Instead, if he is indeed the next manager, VG will have the the intensity of the World Cup and without any break be thrown into the Spurs job. Still, potentially we'll see a good team under him.

I liked DeBoar as well. Maybe Levy has a short list and is interviewing?

Gullit's only repeating what he's said before, based on the Dutch TV report of Levy being at van Gaal's house back in December or whenever it was; nothing new here. I said weeks ago I expect the media to be full of "Van Gaal is de nieuw Shpuursh-bosh, alsho" stories all summer, before he laughs off to Manchester for an all-smiles photoshoot at Old Trafford, scarf-and-all. I'll be amazed if we get him.
