Mourinho would NEVER come here - the sooner people accept this reality - the less disappointed they would be when he officially denies it at a press conference.

Could be Hiddink or MON, imv

I don't think that MoN would leave Sunderland two minutes after he joined and I don't think that he has the qualities we need to progress.

Levy could make a sweet offer much like he did to Pompey back then - 5-6m is a solid sum. Plus he most certainly has superior qualities to Coyle, imv

O'Neill is a strange, emotional bloke and a nightmare to negotiate with. He is managing the club that he supported as a boy and I think that will mean something to him.

I agree that he has a better track record as a manage than Coyle but I hope that our search for an eventual successor to Redknapp goes further than the bottom half of the Premier League.

If it's Moyes, we have had it.

Just find an Everton fansite to see what they think of him. It's only the media that big him up.

Yes, undoubtedly - Coyle was one of the names being thrown around lately so my comment was related to that. Personally I'd be disappointed if that is the level we'd be aiming at.

But we also shouldn't be hypnotised by some foreign 1-season wonder in a midde-table team who can't say 2 words in English and doesn't have the slightest clue about players mentality or the PL as a whole

Mourinho ideally, however despite having a group of fantastic players i think Mourinho will look to how much further Spurs could go considering we are not at the same level financially as Europe's big boys

If Levy wanted to make a shortlist now, i think the names on it would be Hiddink for his experience and class and Martinez and Rodgers for their potential and playing philosophies.

However in the summer things may change. Levy has been linked in the past to AVB and Mancini. If they are out of work, dont be surprised to see either at WHL

i voted Mourinho anyway. dreams sometimes come true

Surely has to be Paul Lambert! He has shown the tactical nous to take Norwich from the bottom of League One to the top-half of the Premier League and probably into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup by getting the best out of players, much like Harry does at the moment. And he knows his way around Europe and the Champions League having won it with Borussia Dortmund. HeÔÇÖs also taken his coaching qualifications in Germany, knows football in this country and on the continent inside out and his team plays some fantastic football. He wonÔÇÖt oober expensive like JM, Hiddink, etc and unlike those is more likely to build a team that will continue to be successful for years to come rather than just buying in big names, hanging around for a year or two and leaving a mess afterwards.

I believe the club have a plan for Sherwood to take over when Harry calls it a day, the current situation is probably to early for this and a short term safe pair of hands who could add something to Sherwoods knowledge would be ideal Hiddink? I think people are being a bit hard on Moyes he has had to do a job with one hand tied behind his back all the time he has been at Everton and although not playing what I would like to see has done a superb job, he does deserve the chance to work with good players and some money, he could be agreat manager. I am most impressed with Brendan Rodgers at Swansea and he has done well at other clubs. It's a real difficult choice, but given the way Her Majesties Press are covering themselves with **** today Harry might think do I need to be England manager and have my every move and thought for the last 40 years investigated, and be ridiculed whenever England don't win 6-0

Coyle needs to get through this very poor year he is having before he can be considered for a job like the current Spurs one. We need to be aiming high, not at the likes of Martinez who also has a long way to go before taking on a job like this.

Allardyce!!! He'll maintain the beautiful football we play.

Or Pulis - gives a chance to players who are better with their arms than legs. Maybe Gomes could play outfield???

I don't understand how Sherwood could possibly be lined up to take on such a prominent role. It makes no sense at all.

No slight on anyone here, but I don't understand how anyone could know that Manager X would never come or Manager Y wouldn't be able to attract players.

Tottenham right now is an exciting prospect. With a couple of shrewd additions to the squad the league title is very much a possibility and it looks like we could be playing in the CL next year, but the main task of anyone coming in would be to achieve another top 4 finish.

The process of buying a player is very different from the manager picking up the phone and saying 'would you like to come play for us?'. In fact, the manager is hardly involved at all. As for being unknown, someone like Brendan Rodgers worked under Mourinho at Chelsea. All the players that were there at the time would know him. If a player wants to know more about a club or manager they'll get in touch with someone who knows. David Silva said he spoke to Javier Garrido about City before joining.

What's most important is that we get a manager with the right qualities to take this club forward and I have all the confidence in the world that Levy will find the right one for us. The man learns from his mistakes.

it all depends on what is Levy's vision. He may be thinking long term regarding the next appointment, in which case the like of Martinez, Rodgers, Lambert, maybe even AVB if he's released, will all be in with a chance of the job

what, like with the insistence on buying players at the very end of the transfer window??

Levy does what he wants

You are right in that it will depend on the vision. My guess is that Levy will be looking for an established, previously successful manager in order to try and maintain the momentum Harry has built. Even though there are obviously no guarantees this would absolutely be my preference. I think Martinez would be a major mistake, and Coyle has seemed like a rabbit in headlights this year. Moreover, both coming to us on the back of two poor seasons wouldn't be particularly encouraging in terms of confidence because if things started badly, well we may end up writing a season off like we have done in the past.

Levy does what he wants

Firing Graham and hiring Hoddle to appease the fans. Then filling the squad with aging players. No short OR long term success.

Then he took a time out and decided to go with a DoF. Levy has obviously learned a lot from Arnesen and Comolli.

Santini, Jol, Ramos and now Redknapp. The club has slowly arrived at the setup we have today which seems to be working. The fact that we don't go out and spend City style is that we don't have a bottomless pit of money and are dependant on other clubs or the player himself to agree to a move.
