I now we are scoring too little, but stats can be misleading. For example each and every of Bales hope-and-hammer shots from 20-50 yards out over the last games count as "chances created". Each and every of Kabouls headers sailing 3 yards over the bar count. Each and every of Rafas freekicks in the wall. Each and every of Ade's curiously inctricate finishes like against Sunderland, where he could head a cross ever so easily in from 2.5 yards but instead made such a soft, cushioned impact it barely trickled to the defender who cleared it on the line.
Also, we don't create a whole lot open chances. How much did we create against Norwich from wide open chances ?
Isn't that exactly the point? Those ARE chances. They are mostly ill conceived, poorly taken, and ultimately wasted, but they are chances nonetheless. So how is that stat misleading?
