Mighty Spurs vs. Emirates Marketing Project

The only gutting thing about this game...we have to wait 2 weeks for the next one!

It is. But better to go into the break on the back of a great win, on the flip side, that is going to niggle away at City's players and their fans knowing its 2 weeks before they can put it right

Good point actually - on the aggression of Chelsea away but in a controlled manner. I thought similar looking at the body language of the players and the expressions on their faces. You could just tell they were focused and confident.

I always felt the benefits of that night would be long-term. Short-term, it was disastrous as it snuffed out any last hopes (which would've been academic anyhow given Leicester's run)...but I had not seen a Spurs side fight like that since Robbo days, and in fairness even they didn't ruck it like we did that night. Reminded me of early Fergie man U getting their aggression out and then honing it. In fact, I think the similarities have been there for a while and are now becoming virtually impossible to ignore. We have a few players now who, if they were on other sides, would aggravate the brick out of me. Danny can be a right clam, Dele likes a niggle, Victor isn't short of a strong challenge, Erik commits small fouls to halt play when he loses possession high-up the pitch, all things we've quietly worked into our game. Blending that with verbal reserve and stoicism is a masterstroke from Poch. It has emancipated them to believe they can and will and should every single game. And I think Chelski was the final very, very important life lesson for us...

I'm with you Steff, regarding the benefit of kicking Chelsea's smug gits right off the park. All of us - fans, players, media - knew there was no way Chelsea were going to take points off Leicester in that final game if it meant Spurs winning the title.

So, we chose to dish out a little pre-emptive payback and I fully endorse what they did. You can't blame the players. They were probably hearing Chelsea chirping away at them on the pitch about what was in store.

After that 5-2 mauling at WHL and this game, there is no reason to look at Chelsea these days and feel anything but confident, contemptuous and, maybe, the urge to burn out the scoreboard bulbs.

At last - welcome to the new Nasty Tottenham.

Nasty in a good way. For all the nonsense of Monday night - the excessive force was to my mind a one-off, an aberration - behind it all there was a clear and powerful message, one that all Tottenham fans will take heart from.

This new Tottenham has thrown down the gauntlet to the Premier League. DO NOT MESS WITH US. We are no longer a pushover. The new Nasty Tottenham has arrived. We have rolled up our sleeves. We mean business.

No question, the way we played Sunday with controlled aggression showed the essential lesson from that night has been learnt. Even so, the acid test will be our next confrontation with Cheatski. Because unlike City they will once again be using every snide trick in the book and more besides to push our discipline to the absolute limit.

But this time round I believe we will be more than equal to it, and we'll smash them.

The true test will be when we have the whole country willing us to lose in a massive title-decider...

Maybe they will be rooting for us this time now that the Leicester fairy tale is not at stake. Probably not though.

We owe WBA for last season! They are a hard working side though. Will be a gritty match of attrition. Dele Alli to score an hattrick?

Lol @StephenH you'd want to wail to the rafters for days on end if we lose/play poorly/only beat Sunderland 1-0, but we beat the top team in the league (after you said "let's see how we do when we play the likes of City") and you don't want to dwell too long at all ("We only get 3 points, let's move on to the next game vs WBA").

I'm all for perspective, but you need to cut it BOTH ways ffs!
Personally, i want my pound of backslapping flesh! Still unbeaten in the league mofos!!
Are you Shaney with a new username??

In fact, where is @shaney???

It's not just Shaney. I can think of a decent sized list of posters who've gone missing over the last few weeks, but are guaranteed to show up again as soon as we have an even remotely poor game.

He hasn't posted anything after 17th of October last year after the Liverpool game, where he said:

Absolute rubbish. I've said if before, but when will people see this is poch's level, he just isnt good enough to get any better out of us, then what we saw today. Stands there staring out onto the pitch with simply no clue what to do. And because he has no clue what to do he simply does nothing.

The fawning knee jerk comments after Emirates Marketing Project were, as predicted, hilarious. Of course some players did'nt peform well and Kane is simply gone at the moment, but Poch is simply not capable of motivating, inspiring or coaching these players to a better level. This is it. What you are watching is as good as it gets. Dont expect more because under Poch it aint coming.

I'm not stopping you slapping yourself or whoever on the back. I'm ecstatic with win Sunday! But its history!
I want more wins! So I'm personally focusing on and looking forward to WBA away now. Wondering will when Dembele will be back, hows is Kane getting on etc

Who is this shaney, sound like a very level headed lad and long time Spurs fan? (edit just been answered above)

They've all become West Hams fans and are on Kumb.

There was a poster who turned up literally minutes after the Saudi Sportswashing Machine 5-1 game last season having made zero posts from October onward - spent all last summer and the early part of the season moaning and then done the same this summer and now he hasn't posted for a couple of weeks - I don't know whether people like that are just trolls or are just depressives who aren't interested in actually enjoying the good times, strange
