Frank nearly broke him and the team psychologically last season. He has largely got away with what he did to us. I am glad to see VdV edging it...

I think it's pretty clear he had time for Ange mate. You've altered history a bit there from what I can see too; as it is said, both VdV and Romero sought to speak with Postecoglu about a shift in approach and he was up for it. Sounds like people working together. It's also known how shocked he was that Postecoglu got canned after winning the Europa.

I know it's unpalatable to think that Frank was disliked in isolation, but alas, I think it's true.

I think we're back to everyone wanting black and white again though mate. GHod forbid that VDV liked certain aspects of Ange but didn't like others AND all at the same time.

I'm hoping VDV moves on from "Yes, but" for Ange and "No" to Frank to a resounding "Damn Right" with RDZ. That's the point I was making.

There is not a professional elite defender on this planet that should be happy with the amount of goals we conceded for 3 or 4 consecutive season at our club. No way VDV should be happy with the defensive systems he has played in. It's his CV after all. He should be taking it personally and looking at setups, tactics etc. He should be looking for root causes and managers would be on that list. He also should be looking in the mirror obviously.

Yep, and thankfully Tudor pushed those bodies to higher levels of fitness for RDZ to come into. It's the pendulum thing where we over rotated the other direction with Frank before we got back to the middle with Tudor/RDZ.

Now we really get to find out where RDZ has the fitness levels for his system.

Agreed and I suspect he has done more of what you're asking than anyone could know because he IS a professional elite defender. The press as we know pick up on things and amplify them.

He certainly came in and did the dirty work, very, very old-school hard style. We are lucky the tweedle twins convinced RDZ to come in because Igor was oil to our squad being water.

I haven't seen any evidence that Tudor made a meaningful positive contribution to the team; in fact quite the opposite. But that's not a thread I want to pick at.

You don't think RDZ took the slightly increased fitness levels from Tudor's short time in charge and leveraged that for his system that had more work rate and pressing in it? I do actually.

I genuinely believe we would have been in the Championship had either Frank or Tudor stuck around any longer. Perhaps the fitness was the one positive. Perhaps the second positive was the reaction we're seeing in the transfer market. It may have happened either way but there's nothing like a quarter of a billion cup final on game 38 to get the board focused. It must have scared the living wotsits out of the owners. Almost as bad as when Lewis lost a billion in a day when Bear Stearns tanked.
