- How many teams win stuff? this season in England = 2 with City winning all the domestic

Poch has made two finals with us and we have failed, to put in context, Klopp failed in 6 in a row before Saturday.

Yes, we have to grab one of the chances that we do all the hard work to get to.

However, we need to really evaluate if it's over expectation vs underachievement and the best answer I can give is Levy's measurement
- Poch has shared that Levy only "expected" CL qualification for the first season of Stadium .. and we are ahead of plan.

I’m capable of seeing another point of view without necessarily agreeing with it. I understand the desperation for us to crown our successful period with a trophy. I understand he has flaws. I’ll say it one more time so it’s not misinterpreted. I hope he remains our manager and doesn’t leave us anytime soon. Look forward to your response.
 
Well Stop! Hammer time i guess and it would be boring if we all agreed ( and impossible), is he the best coach in the world? i have no idea, but what i will say he has ( along with Levy) put us in a position we have not been in for a very long time.

I believe ( and always will) that one of the ways of judging a manger is what he has helped teams win, and in that Poch has ( so far) not done so. However its not the only thing that helps judge a manager and what he has achieved, he has helped us achieve more then we have done for a long time and for that i will always be grateful.

I do sometimes query his team selection ( most fans do) but we do not know the reasoning why he makes some of those choices. I have been a fan for a long time and in all honesty i would put him ( so far) behind the likes of Bill and Keith, because not only did they both win us several trophy but had us playing great football as well.

I honestly believe that under Poch we are NOW in with a chance of winning trophys ( and we have not really been in that posistion for quite a while).

Just pointing out things you DID say. (And you even went as far as saying someone else did:rolleyes:).

Discussion s are hard when one forgets or misremembers what they've said. Trump like.

The quotes I picked out are all there in your posts. It's reasonable to think (from those) that you're picking holes or hinting his time is running out. They don't all relate to 'whether he's the best manager' or not.

Own it. Or don't say it.

Well, said, mate. What you said about the routine, chimes with me. This season in our bad patch, I thought I have to stop watching for a bit, it's too emotionally upsetting (strangely the losses to Watford, to Bournemouth, to Wolves etc have hurt more than losing in this final). In the end I didn't miss any matches but I didn't feel whole even with the idea of not watching Spurs. To have a good team, that wins most weeks is a huge thing in my life. The boost I get regularly on a weekend. The anticipation and sense of purpose we have as we compete for things. I can't do without it, as I said I don't feel whole. Feel like a shadow instead.

I thought you were referring to robspur’s post when he compared me and nigeyman, apologies.

Still don’t think anything I’ve said is particular controversial or out of line but it seems like some don’t like when people praise other managers even whilst acknowledging the work Poch has done here. It’s not unreasonable or picking holes to say the best coach in the world would ideally need to win at least one trophy to be considered as such. If Klopp and pep had won nothing then it wouldn’t even be a contest. Poch would be the winner hands down.
 
The disappointment is still fresh. I can easily bring back the feeling as the second goal went in, and when enough of the added time had been spent and all hope had been lost.

At the same time the magnificent performance of Pochettino this season and since he took over is becoming clearer. He took us to a CL final.

I still remember the game against City when we secured CL football for the "first" time. When that was a measure of massive success for us. Pochettino has delivered that four seasons running and brought us to the final. He's made big titles something we can at least realistically talk about, not just a pipe dream.

Is he our best manager ever? I don't think so. Is he the best in the world right now? I don't think so. He is the best manager we could dream of having right now, and I absolutely adore him and I'm massively grateful.

I think that is an important point as well

- when you realize United (with all their money and status) have OGS and there is serious conversations of Chelsea looking at Lampard ..

Spurs will not get one of the other top managers (lots of big money available elsewhere), anyone replacing Poch will likely be a massive gamble.

I do not want Poch to go.
But I think the last three years have made us a pretty attractive proposition to manage. And if our finances really in rude enough health to give some heft to the transfer budget, there aren't many reasons for a youngish and ambitious manager to turn us down.
Pochettino's salary is pretty massive, the facilities he has to work with are near the pinnacle, we are in maybe the best league in the world and in a very attractive city, the squad isn't exactly terrible and the chairman has shown that he will give time to someone who proves themself.

No disagreement, except either now or within next year Barca, PSG, United, Chelsea, Juve will likely be looking for a manager ..

Yes, it is a message board etc, but let me put this in language which might make sense.
When someone who was a great bloke but a heavy smoker dies of lung cancer, most people wait at least a week before lamenting (at length) how his smoking probably killed him, and instead CHOOSE to focus on the positive aspects of that person.

Mauricio Pochettino just enabled me to see my lifelong beloved Tottenham Hotspur in a Champions League Final. The first one ever. I got to experience one because of him! When we lost 4-0 to Liverpool under Sherwood five years ago, it was not even a legitimate dream.

He’s magic - you know!!!!!

Jesus! Saying a manager is the third best on the planet is somehow slating him? Really? I get people are sensitive after the weekend as I am myself too and had a long journey home like many others but are get a fudging grip.
