Levy - End Of Season Letter

No matter how brilliant AVB's presentation was it should never have blinded Levy to the man's transparently flawed character. Of course you can argue that everyone deserves another chance but leopards don't change their spots and that chance ought to have come at a much lesser club than Tottenham.

mod vs mod beef....this is what dreams are made of.

oh puh-lease...thats not REAL online beef LOL ;)

Its amazing to sit back and just read what everyone else is saying about so many different topics and sub topics

The rumour at the time he was appointed Chelsea manager was that he was on our radar too but Levy thought that he needed more time at Porto before he was ready for the Premier League.

...this another chapter in Levy vs Abramovich...Levy had ID'd him, thought he'd be at Porto for one more year, thought Harry was off to the England job and thus he would then get AVB in nice and clean. Abramovich got wind, and as he did with Arnesen, he decided to make a move simply because he found out Levy liked him. I would be flabbergasted if we ever got a player, or sold a player, from them whilst both these men are in charge.

And I know mate, I know your original question was genuine, sorry to infer otherwise ;-)...as for what more Levy could've done, well, there's a thought that perhaps a little more exploration of the 'what if' scenarios might have left both men better educated as to each other's potential behavior. I don't know where I stand TBH. I think the whole thing was most unfortunate, and there's little doubt that AVB 'bunkered' himself in more and more as the season went on, to a point where it really wasn't good for anyone.

Do you really think this? It just seems a little petty.

Mind you I always thought the Willian transfer was strange in that Chelsea moved so very very late. Almost like it was an impulse buy and little else. Willian has been one of Chelsea's highlights last term but I do just get the feeling the Russian bought him to spite us as much as anything else.

I think that they have a policy of trying to undermine competitors, particularly from the chasing pack. I would not be surprised if they tried to hijack some of Liverpool's deals this summer.

Chelsea have been after Willian for a long time, before we ever showed any true interest....Willians agent is Joorabchian who is very close with Abramovich.

They were hardly pursuing him with any enthusiasm though by the looks of things. The chap was having a medical with us, if reports are to be believed, before they made their move. To me it just just smacks of opportunism and maybe even spitefulness.

not even Chelski are in a financial position to blow 35 mill on player just to be spiteful.......yes the late timing sucked though

Seems like they had indicated an interest at least seeing as they were contacted before the deal with us could be finalized.

They might have had other targets that they would try to get ahead of him if they could, but Mourinho clearly rates him and you can see just how well he fits in there. I don't think it was just a reaction to us being close.
