Jose Mourinho - SACKED

No that’s the whole game
Yep we are a big deeper than West Ham but not much in it
As I said it’s no suprise when your 3 up and the opposition have nothing else to do but commit players and they were playing well
I also posted the Chelsea game heat maps in the other thread... their worth a look
Finny is right the defensive drop off started in the 2nd half. At the time I saw it just as us being too casual due to the relative ease at which we had gained our commanding lead so didn't think too much more of it. But it was Indeed the start of this defensive retreat into our own half. At least at 3 nil up you can somewhat understand. With these slender 1 nil leads it's a suicidal tactic.

@DubSpur @Bedfordspurs

The attached images shows where we stand in regards to conceding goals from setpieces this season.

The raw numbers themselves are not that hight but we are relatively high up in the table for goals conceded from setpieces. 6 times as many as Arsenal interesting and 3x times as many as Emirates Marketing Project but the same as United and pretty similar to Liverpool and Chelsea.
Arsenal defend them really well TBF
It’s the one thing they have sorted
At one point this season they hadn’t conceded one set piece goal which was good going considering the way they were playing

Looking at the stats it doesn't seem to the wisest course of action to purposely play for set pieces when we are not especially good at defending them and concede an above average number of goals from them.

Does anyone actually think we play for set pieces?

Pools winner was a corner
The pelanty Aurier gave away was from a corner
Wolves scored from a corner
Palace was a free kick granted
The other goals we conceded were unlucky deflections
So unless we wanna defend corners further out, how deep we are is kinda irrelevant. It’s purely how we actually defend them surely ?
Also Everton scored from a dodgy fk way out on the touchline
Saudi Sportswashing Machine were awarded an outrageous pen in the last minute
Spammers scored their second from a fk.

Agreed
But the comments seem to be focussed on us playing deep causing us to concede free kicks
The games you mentioned that wasn’t a strategy. But while we’re at it do we add that United scored from a Centre basically ?

Worth noting how often the title has been won on the back of 1-0 victories. Arse and Liverpool were famous for it back in the day and Leicester had a plethora of them that season they won it.

Playing deep isn't causing us to concede free kicks, but when we do they are in a more dangerous position.

We have conceded the 4th most free kicks though: https://en.as.com/resultados/futbol/inglaterra/2020_2021/ranking/equipos/faltas-cometidas/
Conceded the most fouls when making tackles: https://en.as.com/resultados/futbol...nking/equipos/entradas-que-terminan-en-falta/
I'd say this is more due to having little possession. Can't find any stats for the positions we give those frees away in.

We went ahead in first minutes and lost it in the last minutes.
With bugger all chances in between.

If Jose is going to continue with this deep defensive play, then I think we need someone replacing Sissoko who is more comfortable with the ball. I am sure, along side a CB, that will be his priority in Jan.
Why do we need somebidy more comfortable with the ball if we’re going to continue to play this deep, defensive style?
