Personally I do not think this is the time to scout players. We have about 4 days left before the window closes and I really feel that we should have identified and fully researched any player we are remotely interested in by now if we are thinking of getting them during this window

We scout players all year round.
Maybe the "target" only appeared on the radar last week?
And maybe today was also the only chance of seeing the "target" against Premiership opposition?

Unfortunately, we have learnt over the years that Harry and Levy love doing business on deadline day.
So that's what it'll be, there will be some business done still I think and it need not be the dregs.

Samba and Tevez both there for the taking if City or Blackburn are offered the right price I'm sure.....

Watching the Brighton defeat of Saudi Sportswashing Machine noticed that Clive Allen was in the stands scouting.

Wonder who he was looking at, I'd imagine it was a striker. Mackail-Smith on the radar (would be surprised)

Buckley looked a decent winger, able to take players on and go pass them.

Then again maybe scouting for future fixture against the Toon.

If allen was scouting anyone from brighton it would have been caskey-forrester that boy has one hell of a future, liverpool are down there every other week looking at him.

I follow brighton quite a bit and actuallys use one of their forums now and again as i have a mate on there and caskey-forrester is the one they all have high hopes for. I have seen brighton live 5 times this season and dunk is no where near fready for the prem, reminds me of lescott when he was at wolves when they were in the championship, could be good but it will be a few years.

Wells at southampton is another we should be looking at for a future left back, it is scary how good he is.

The central defender has excelled since he came back to White Hart Lane from Portsmouth two years ago. And his reward will be a lucrative new deal.

Kaboul joined Spurs from Auxerre in 2007 for ?ú8million but had a torrid time. He was signed by Harry Redknapp for *Portsmouth and went on to be part of Pompey’s FA Cup winning team.

Kaboul is now a key member of the Tottenham squad and Redknapp said of the Frenchman: “Younes has been magnificent for us, absolutely terrific.

“He is a tremendous player and that is why I signed him twice.

“He did not have the best of times when he was first at Tottenham. But he was only a young boy. I could see the potential in him.”

MARK HUGHES is chasing a deadline-busting treble swoop for Tottenham duo Sebastien Bassong and Steven Pienaar as well as Wigan hit-man Hugo Rodallega (left).

QPR have already had one bid rejected for South African star Pienaar after failing to meet Tottenham’s ?ú2.5million valuation but they aren’t giving up just yet. New Loftus Road boss Hughes is also looking to strengthen his defence and has targeted Cameroon centre-back Bassong, who hasn’t been able to nail down a regular place at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham value Bassong at ?ú1m more than the ?ú3.5m QPR are willing to pay but Hughes hasn’t given up hope a deal can be done before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Wigan striker Rodallega is looking for a staggering ?ú60,000-a-week contract.

The big Colombian is prepared to sit out his contract at Wigan but Latics supremo Dave Whelan is tempted by the chance of selling him for around ?ú6m rather than losing him for nothing.

Aston Villa and Fulham have also shown interest in Rodallega, although QPR are closer to his pay demands.

Wealthy Anzhi Makhachkala and Spartak Moscow are considering a move for Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. Spurs are willing to off-load the unhappy Russian despite taking up a one-year contract extension on the striker three months ago.

Dont want to get rid of Bassong. I think he has been unlucky behind players like king and kaboul but he is better than Dawson.

Im sure he'll developp into a great player but he needs to play.

I also think we should keep Gio instead of Pienaar. Pienaar is much older, i know hes been injured and all that but i dont think hes that good. Doesnt beat his man, doesnt cross, i dont know, i dont have a good feeling about him at this club.

I think Gio and Bass are both talented but need to play.

But keeping them fuming on the bench is not good for them either --- they'll do better somewhere else, we'll just have to accept that they didn't fit into our program.

Thats why i cant understand why they didnt play against watford.

We should see gio in the league more aswell, especially in the last 20 minutes. Defoe had cramps before he missed that open goal vs city.

Its good when players know that if they play badly they can get replaced at any time.

Apparently we are after a defender from Sao Paulo. Bruno Uvini. Captained Brazil under 20 during their world cup. Loan deal with buying clause.

Bassong can go in the summer...we have two semi-crocked central defenders...if Dawson breaks again, we would be in trouble. we are vying for a champions league spot and i don't want Livermore or Charlie or Huddlestone (when he gets back) or untried Khumalo (if he is still around) "filling" in, particularly during the run-in and with the games we have coming up.

In essence Harry is lumped with a player he does not rate. Nobody else except us is silly enough to pay silly money for such an average striker player hence no one else is willing to pay the money we have been asking. Sometimes you have to cut your losses to move forward

Unfortunately it seems as though Gio doesn't have the work ethic to make it at Spurs, and that is one of the key attributes to become a very good professional footballer.

We need a spark in the team. In the summer, we got the sparks from Parker and Adebayor and the team went on a winning run. The team now is a bit stale lately. We need someone to come in and change it up. Ideal (but not realistic) would be Cavani and Remi.

I agree. Levy has done some remarkable things in the transfer window but the longer we keep the likes of Pav, the more his value goes down.

It's not like clubs are lining up around the corner with bags of money looking to sign Pav. Transfer dealings outside the mega-wealthy lottery winning clubs are slow these days.

I'm certain Levy is perfectly aware of how Pav will be worth less in 6 months than he is now, and how much a 6 month stay with us will cost us in wages. If the right financial deal was available and a suitable replacement/upgrade could be brought in we would have gone for it.

Bassong was good for us in the season when we finished fourth but he has dropped down the pecking order because we have brought better players in and King has managed to play far more this season than we are used to. I don't think that Bassong is significantly worse than the players that we are talking about replacing him with but he needs games to recover his form and he is not going to get that with us.

Gio's attitude has stunk ever since he joined the club and has only put in a couple of decent performances for us. If Gio was interested then I am sure that he would get more games for us, he is exactly the type of player that Redknapp loves.
