Jan Vertonghen

They have Rojo and are likely going in for Blind too. I'd be suprised if they came in for Jan. I'd be even more suprised if we let him go with a week left to find a replacement too.

Plus we'd tell them to go **** themselves. Vertonghen has said that he wants to stay, we appear to be set up for a strong season, so why would he want to go elsewhere? To a club in turmoil...

Ed Woodward is about as clueless as he looked last summer if he thinks this is a good time to call Daniel Levy up trying to sign one of our first team players.

welcome back smiling Jan...missed ya

He smiles when he wants... ;)

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen looked on anxiously this after injuring a female spectator during a training session.

An errant shot flew into the unsuspecting onlooker, knocking her unconscious.
Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblade report: "The woman in question was taken away in a stretcher to be treated by emergency services locally and had a (mild) concussion."
The Mirror reported that a concerned Vertonghen stayed with the woman until she regained consciousness.
Vertonghen, 27, has made two appearances in the Premier League for Spurs this season and is expected to to feature for his country in their friendly with Australia on Thursday night.

A group of young American footballers and their parents have sued Fifa and US football groups over the risks from concussions.

The California class-action lawsuit accuses the sport's governing bodies of acting "carelessly and negligently" and failing to protect young players.

The filing also calls for new safety rules, including limiting the number of headers for young players,

Hmm, not sure how they could have grounds to take legal action against the governing body. Any correlation out there between heading footballs and poor brain development??:-k

Vertonghen’s agent, Mustapha Nakhli, said: “We have spoken to Daniel Levy about a new contract for Jan and the negotiations were very good – we hope to sort everything out very soon.

“He is happy at Tottenham and wants to play for the club. He wants to play Champions League with Tottenham and he has a very good feeling about the new manager.

“Last year they made many changes and brought in many new players and it was not so good, but this season it is possible for Tottenham to qualify for the Champions League.”

DeVrij just scored for Holland and stuck out his blue tongue. Has he been eating sweets at half time, or do they have Slush Puppies in the Lucozade bottles?

And nobody else wants him.

His agent really should stfu about Champions League. It makes him look really silly. Just play football, do the best you can, if you get a chance to move to a big club off the back of some great form with Spurs then so be it. Right now I don't think anyone is overly quaking in their pants if Jan is sold. I like Jan, but his form has been woeful for some time now so just focus on that. TBH his agent is just doing what agents do.

Didn't some of the ITKs tell us Jan's contract was 'done' a few weeks back.

Like some others on here I'm no big Jan fan. To me he was a disappointment last season, and the way Liverpool got at us this season didn't bode well for the future.

If Fazio and Vlad/Dier can hit it off, wouldn't mind seeing Jan sold and another HG 'Shawcross' type brought in instead next year.

And of course, Vertongen could tell his agent to stfu. And if his agent won't do that, then he could hire another agent. Bottom line, this is coming from Vertongen.
