Meh, can say the same about Fred more or less and I don't see people starting threads about him.

Very few people are saying that he's ****e or that he wouldn't improve our squad/team. What people are saying is that he's overrated and that for the kind of money he will cost we can find better players that will improve us even more.
 
In the light of the recent Willian incident, I don't think signing a player from Gazprom owned Zenit St Petersburg is likely to be that straightforward.

I can see wages being an issue but why transfer fee? (unless he'll cost 40m or more).

Agree - am hoping that he's not the only one which we're after as there's so many things which look difficult about it. Didnt they pay €40m for him for a start? They know we're due to get a huge pile of cash from selling Bale...can see them asking €40m for him. GHod knows what wages he'll want. Personally I think he's massively over-rated (though he does have a good goal-scoring record) so would prefer to see us go after others
 
Wouldn't want us spending 30m plus on hulk he'd be outstanding one week rubbish the next 4 weeks, Lamela is the more exciting player

Abramovich sold his Sibneft shares to Gazprom, I believe. So I imagine he has good contacts there. Wouldn't really want to see the club get into another Willian situation.
 
Again no Hulk in the starting lineup and not on the bench. Didn't play the first leg either. Must be keeping him from being cup tied.
 
Last game he played he got two yellows in, not been seen since. He missed the last game in the league due to two yellows

And they pay his wages.

He's also left footed which means in a front three he'd be competing with Lamela on the right, if you then moved Lamela in behind the striker he'd be competing with Erikson. I love competition for places but I'm not sure how you'd keep everyone happy in a World Cup year.

Call me crazy, but i believe we need this, he is inconsistent, but Bale was the same... The difference, they both can pop up at any moment and do something magical, something we're missing, he wants to play with AVB which is a good sign he could go back to his best Porto days, we should go for it in my view..

When Zenit say 10 million is that wages included or what? Think he could do well but there's better alternatives

I'd rather we tried for Demba Ba on loan, he can play in a 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 and has a proven record just needs a team that believes in him.

I don't know, i think Levy would strike a deal so they still pay for a lot of it... However, we've had many good signings, but we still need a marquee signing, like Bale was to Madrid, someone really exciting
