Here he is at his peak. The second goal is amazing but there's so many misplaced passes and runs down blind alleys. He's so frustrating. To me he's a 'highlights player' who'll look amazing on motd. I think when his pace goes then he'll be a completely nothing player. He's simply not worth 30m plus.

I agree with this.

I was actually talking about in an emergency situation due to injuries to other players. If he is bought it would obviously because he excelled under AVB on the right side of a front 3. He would not be my first choice but if AVB wants him I am in support, so far our signings this window have been good

My number one situation is to go with whoever AVB, Baldini and Levy chose to go with. I knew nothing about Capoue before we signed him so I am gonna trust the powers that be this window

I agree and I too will trust their judgement.

That won't stop me from giving my opinion though :) And so far I haven't seen any reason to believe that Hulk is a player AVB and Baldini are after or a player they think is good value in the market today.

If we do go in for Hulk I figure it is because AVB has worked with him first hand. Methinks AVB is a better judge than you

I've never understood this kind of argument. The manager knows more than you therefore your opinion is automatically invalid. All managers make mistakes, a lot of them. Including on player acquisition.

I think if you put it in context it may make a lot more sense in this particular scenario. AvB is trying to make this his own team, having previously worked with Hulk, he knows what he will get out of him. Agree?

Of course. But this is mostly true for every single transfer a manager makes. I'm sure Ferguson thought he was buying the best cm in the world when he bought Veron (and he was). But it didn't work out. How many failed transfers have our managers gone through? Who thought Kaka would be as **** as he's been (relatively)? Etc etc.

If AVB wants to buy Hulk, I'm not going to cry about it. But telling people that their reservations are wrong because AVB wants him isn't a valid argument imo. AVB is human and will make mistakes, just like any other person.

 I agree. In that case we should never question a substitution, never speculate on signings, never give our opinions on formations. The manager knows more.

Why not extend the theory: referee's know more than us - never criticise a referee's decision, never debate a decision. Levy knows more than us, never discuss the stadium. Kit manufacturers know more than us - never laugh at Liverpool's away kit.

We should just close all internet forums to do with any topic and set up new ones and to become a member you have to have a relevant phd. WALOB.

I think buying Hulk is the easy option for AvB. But so far his player judgement in the market has been overall simply put 'Stunning'

I think Hulk is overrated and has far too many shortcomings to be worth 30m,but I also think he's very effective and if you put him in our team he would be a nightmare for defenders to deal with.

Probably a 15m player imo, is that an upgrade on townsend or Lennon? Yep, could we get better value for money for 30m - I'd hope so!

I think this argument is reasonable. I will quite frequently accept that there are plenty of things managers will understand and know that I won't making their judgement on a situation better than mine.

However, the 'if' you have at the start of your sentence is important. So far we haven't. Until a time where we actually do then this argument is only a completely hypothetical one.

Hulk in a World Cup year makes sense.

Can't believe people are turning their nose up. He's a Brazilian international forward with a strong track record

It doesn't make your opinion invalid.
But it DOES make it MUCH less informed.

With any transfer to a new team, even with a familiar manager, there are other variables that impact the likely success of the player. No manager can account for them all so no transfer is guaranteed to be successful even if the player and manager know each other well.

bale showed us that when there are 11 men defending the goal, a long range shot is an effective strategy. especially after 60 minutes of ho-hum football.

bale has a better strike, but the hulk has more tools in his locker. i'd like to see him at the lane if he can still do the stuff he does here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=OcLBrg_mGB0

There's a reason why Bale's going for a world transfer record and none of Barca, Real, City or United have been in for him(I'll give you Chelsov wanted him last summer.), he's not worth 30 million. We could have got Navas for half that.

I really these rumours of us going for Hulk and for 30 M is bull; I might literally cry if we sign him. So unbelievably overrated

Artur Petrosyan @arturpetrosyan

Hulk still wants to leave #Zenit but seems like there's no club where he's the main target so his future depends on many other transfers.

I don't think he is what we need, and he is way overpriced at €30m, never mind £, but the player market seems to get crazier by the day, so what do I know?
