Never been a better to time for the team to show us what we are actually made of.

Personally, I think we'll come through it, starting with good results against Stoke and Chelsea.....but then, Ive thought that way since about 1986, when I was 10yrs old.

Who knows? One thing we all know, is that regardless, we'll be back to torture ourselves next season. Thats the important thing.

I think we'll beat Everton, thats how optimistic I am!

It's completely natural that fans are starting to worry about our position, but I don't think it's right to let that worry turn into too much criticism of the players and manager. Because we should bear in mind that our recent poor results have come away to Emirates Marketing Project, Arsenal and Everton, and at home to Man United; it's not like we've lost at home to Blackburn and Wigan. Furthermore, we undeniably deserved at least a point against both United and Everton, and were literally inches away from all three points against City. In all four of those games we had two poor halves: the first against Everton and the second against Arsenal.

I understand that some people are frustrated with some of Harry's decisions, but actually our overall performances have continued to be pretty decent. And with Lennon out there is no 'right' answer to his replacement - if Luka had played in the middle against Everton with Niko on the right, then we might have lost by even more due to a defensively weaker midfield. The fact that we lost means that people will criticise the lineup, but the fact is that we deserved something out of that game with that lineup, and might have deserved less with some of the lineups that others are suggesting.

I don't agree that we've been lucky with injuries at all.

Defence

Dawson - missed most of the season.
Gallas - missed most of the season.
King - in and out as per usual.

Midfield

Huddlestone - missed the entire season
Sandro - missed half the season and never properly match fit when he has played.
Lennon - missed half the season with a succession of injuries.

Attack

Van Der Vaart - in and out of the team with a succession of minor injuries.

I would argue that all of the above players are crucial for us - some as first choice, some as top rate alternatives to first choice players. Would hurt any team to have so many top players out for so many games.

Lots of other lesser injuries too, which kept other players out for short periods.

Gallas, King and VdV at the least are expected to be injured quite a bit. Can't say that it's been unlucky. Not lucky either, just as expected.

That leaves Dawson, Huddlestone, Sandro and Lennon. Dawson seems to be behind Kaboul these days, at least he is not rated much higher than Kaboul. Huddlestone would be very unlikely to be a first choice player. At the very least he is not rated higher than Modric and not much higher than Huddlestone. Sandro has been injured, however would he have been first choice? Ahead of Parker? Unlikely. That leaves Lennon as the only clear cut first choice 11 player that has been injured on and off, but he has still played 14 PL games this season so far.

Can't see how that is unlucky when you compare it to Arsenal or United.

Dawson Hudd and Gallas all squad players. All teams have injuries ours have not be too bad.

don't think any team that fields ledley king whenever he's fit can count itself as lucky with injuries... the players you have called "squad players" are only that because they've been injured all year. hudd was brilliant for us and started when fit during our best ever season. gallas was our best defender last year by a mile.

lennon's health issues this season have affected us big time as we have very little depth out wide. fit and on form vdv and lennon start every match. the reason we have been "lucky with injuries" as you perceive it is that Redknapp has assembled a deep and talented squad, a good blend of experience and youth. its not luck, its good management that those injuries haven't hurt us more.

This season, at some point, the following players have all been out with injuries:

Bale, Gallas, Modric, Parker, King, BAE, Lennon, Dawson, Huddlestone, VDV, Sandro, Defoe, Niko and and I think Kaboul

I don't think that Gallas and VDV are expected to be injured.

Because Thudd's been out for so long, I think people have forgotten how good he can be and how important he is to us. Could have made a crucial difference in some crucial games - even if only from the bench.

Sandro was superb for the second half of last season. Again, could have been crucial in some crucial games.

Lennon has been a big miss whenever he hasn't played. He's also one of those who needs to build momentum. Always takes a while to reach top form after returning from injury.

Lastly, it's not a question of whether we have been lucky with injuries relative to other clubs. And, besides, it would be just as easy to argue that a large proportion of Arsenal's and Utd's injured players wouldn't have been first choice either.

It wouldnt surprise me if Arsenal mess up tonight, no easy games in the PL as we all know...

don't kid yourself... you can't trust them to be brick for more than 2 games on the spin, and they've already had them... the sun is shining in North London today, they'll stroll it at a canter... if WE did Saudi Sportswashing Machine by 5, you can bet your left gonad they'll be looking to score 6 at LEAST!

...of course I hope and pray I'm wrong!

I just Hope Everton Carry on this home form and do us a favour at home to le Scum Next week.

Although im Dissapointed with this mini blip I feel that apart from the Scum game we should have had at least 2 pts from the last 2 games if not at least 4. We played well against Man Yoo and Everton, but we just could not get a bit of luck. We could do with getting Lennon and Bale out again at the same time, i feel it makes a massive difference to us. But Also do everything to keep modders more central. If we have to play Sandro and Parker then give modders a more advanced role in front of them.

I think they will need to play a hell of a lot better to even get a draw. Bad luck, bad set-pieces and a bit of wasteful finishing cost us.
Right now Arsenal are riding on a wave of good fortune and have the best finisher in the League. Lightening wouldnt strike twice i'm afraid.
And as posted by somebody else, sorry forgot who, that ia Arsenal's next game, while Everton will have played Liverpool and Sunderland at home in between

True. BUT!!! Everton are a battling, tough side and thats the kind of team Le Scum normally falter against. I know, I know im clutching at straws but Im hoping they can battle for a draw. Everton are good at set peices and I can see that causing the scum some problems. People keep talking about the amount of games. But loads of teams play Wednesday, saturday all the time. I dont see it affecting Everton, they are trained to run around like Tits for 90 mins every game.

The problem is the backup we have for our key players don't fit the tactics we have in mind for them.

I'll ask everyone a few questions:

who is our replacement for modric?

For VDV?

For Lennon?

For Bale?

For Walker?

If any of these players get injured it seriously affect the way we play as the people who come in cannot do the type of job they do.

I think we can cope with any one of those individuals being out. The problem is, that Harry seems hell bent on shuffling the AM and Strikers up, if the LB is injured.

Rednapp's excuse for playing Vale on the right

I have read and heard comments from Harry after the Everon match that the reason he played Bale on the right was because we have no one else to play there. Now forgive me if his comments have been addressed in another thread but I could not tell from the various thread titles.

Now was it my imagination or did we not play at Anfield recently and did not Niko give an impressive defensive perfromance on the right side of midfield? I remember him doubling up with walker to handle threats down our right flank and generally putting in a very robust performance. I would go so far as to say that I have never seen Niko work so hard in a Spurs match before. So why not simply play him there again and that way we get to play 3 or our 4 first choice midfielders in their strongest positions. Again if Harry's comments have been addressed I apoligise for starting this thread.

One could also consider playing VDV on the right although the problem is that he wanders. but I really thought Niko has shown enough discipline on the right flank to merit another start there
