Harry Kane MBE

Not worth the money they want for him that is for sure.
There has to be better value for money out there, surely.

has he signed an extension since the summer?

I think the price will only go down if he hasn't, at 10-15m I reckon he's worth a go

Man U could/would pay double that just because he is British. I agree £10-15m he would be OK. But not @ £25m+

I disagree there. Kane has skrtel on his arse for plenty of the game. His stats for a centre back were pretty poor and he was bailed out by Sakho
teams put defenders on messi, aguero, suarez too, but you don't realize it because they always get away from their marker.
this reminds me of a critique that i have regarding poch's setup and attack play - we don't try to pass the ball into the space behind the defender marking kane enough, and its quite possible that the reason is that we press so high, kane often has no choice but to receive the ball with has back towards goal.

Berahinos boat has sailed, can't see DL going back for him, sends out the wrong message.
Not the lads fault and I feel sorry for him but thats football

I don't see how it sends out the wrong message, the message I would get from that would be "fudge it, I'll wait 5 months if I get the player at price I'm happy to pay"

What message do you think it sends out?

Poch came as close to saying Berahino is the player we want, him or no one back in the summer and unless we've identified better targets in the mean time then we should be going straight back in for him at the first opportunity

I think it is clear that there is a lot more pressure on Harry this season and this is affecting his goalscoring. However, he's not hiding and still taking his shots but also contributing to the all round play. The press starts with him and he's doing it well. Top class players never hide and he's not.

I also don't subscribe to the theory that he needs a rest. He is learning from this, and is getting a regular chance to get his touch back. Even if we had bought Berahino, I would play Kane ahead of him every day of the week as the number 9. Kane's long-term position is up for debate and I see why people see him as a no10, but I think we will instead see our front 4 interchanging all of the time. Kane then becomes invaluable in this set up as I can't see a Benteke, as an example, being able to pull this off.

Playing inverted wingers can also contribute to this. When Lamela/Chadli/Eriksen cuts inside with the ball as they always do it leaves Kane with few options other than to show to feet for a one two, or to make a run across goal to clear space for them to get a shot away.

That being said, he's still getting chances (just not scoring them) and we played inverted wingers and pressed high last season, so the above points (including mine) are a flakey excuse more than anything.

Basically, I don't think you can attribute Kane's lack of goals to Poch's set up. If we weren't creating any chances for him you could, but he's getting at least 1-2 good chances per game at the min. He's just not taking them.

That we won't be held over a barrel or pay silly prices.
we tried, it didn't work, move on.
I completely disagree. If we went back in for him in January and got him it would show that we are serious about our targets (especially if we didn't end up paying any more than we offered in the Summer window). If the player we wanted and didn't get on the last day of the window in the Summer is no longer a player we want in January then it would suggest that we had got it seriously wrong in the previous window.
