Giovani Lo Celso

Can he play LB in this system? Could be interesting, always nice to get your more technical players on the pitch somewhere. Certainly don’t see it as a massive step down from Davies there anyway (thought Davies was ok today by the way)
 
One of the (little) things that frustrates me about Ange, whilst respecting that he is far more knowledgeable than me on all things football - To the naked eye at least, we finally have Lo Celso consistently fit and available and he barely uses him. He has done far more in his cameos than Maddison has done for months, and always shows fight trying to win the ball etc too but will not give him a real chance. Shame really, he looks tailor made for what Ange wants to me, but clearly Ange doesnt think so....

Obvsiously we don't know what is going on behind the scenes but it's baffling
 
Maybe he already knows Lo Celso is off in the summer so doesn't really want to drop Maddison etc. for him. He's happy to have him around but wants/hopes Maddison, Bentancur can adapt and find form etc. There must be some reason because if it was based on his sub appearances he definitely deserves a chance to start some games over them.
 
I wonder if, in a few years, something will come out about behind the scenes stuff that has been a major cause of his restricted gametime.

So very interestingly, Ally Gold mentioned reports in Spain that we are willing to offer Gio an extension (Gold felt Gio would likely not take it due to play time but with cup games next season?)

Maybe as others have speculated, Ange is taking the long term view (right now, looks like Gio goes), if he commits, does that change things?

I think that's the most likely scenario.

If that isn't the case it only makes keeping him make even less sense. If he's not going to get starts or at the very least more game time in circumstances like the last couple of months when would he get more meaningful game time...
