General Transfer Discussion Thread

Re: Transfer Rumours

Think I am going to watch Santos tonight to see whether that other human statue Leandro Damiao is playing.

Re: Transfer Rumours

He has zero movement, just stands waiting for the ball, when he gets the ball granted he moves. Fans will be pulling there hair out if we signed Lukaku.

I have to say I'm more in your boat than most others

lukaku is raw and the potential is there but he isn't quite a flat track bully and he lacks the awareness and finesse needed so far to be a top top striker. It's easy knowing your first choice in a scent attacking side like evertin but at a club where he may not be playing week in week out he may struggle

Bony looks to have the right attributes that comes from his greater experience and he would ultimately cost less (much less hype around him). He looks to me like a cross between Ade and Soldado so that's surely a great thing (assuming we keep one of the two)... And he looks like he has the right attitude (so does lukaku)

The reality may be that Lukaku will be sold for nearer £30m and Bony nearer £20m... I'd pay less and get more shor term

Re: Transfer Rumours

Superhudd, it's good to see there's someone else out there who doesn't think Lukaku is the second coming of Shearer. He's absolutely average. In 5 years time he'll either be on the bench at a top team, or starting somewhere like Saudi Sportswashing Machine or Villarreal. He's nothing special.

Re: Transfer Rumours

So what of Remy then? I think he has the potential to be very very good.

Isn't he more like a talented Darren Bent? Good on the counter/with space in behind but not so good against a packed defence.

I'm not sure his skill set transfers well from underdogs to teams like Spurs.

Remy has more in his locker than Bent.

I agree - that's why I said a talented version.

My issue is that he doesn't seem to perform against teams that sit back (almost everyone against us), but turns it on against those who leave him space (about 4 matches per year for us).

He seems to be scoring against everyone he plays against and putting in good performances. TBH I haven't analysed the type of teams he's scoring against and how they play.

My opinion is if we have Eriksen, Lamela AND a playmaker providing him...he'll be deadly.

Re: Transfer Rumours

Lots of snobbish people here about Remy. It's not like he can only be useful against teams that open up FFS. He is a clinical goalscorer and very good player to boot, we are in no position to turn our nose up at a player of his ilk if offered. Having said that,he's an Arsenal and Henry was his hero, Arsenal need a striker and he would be relatively cheap, whilst being an upgrade on Giroud, which sounds a perfect recipe for Wenger (aswell as being French).

Lukaku I'm not sold on, Bony is indeed better so I would take him over Rom.

Re: Transfer Rumours

Hold on a second

Is there actually a debate as to who is better between bony and lukaku?

How is that even possible?

i'm actually curious as to why its a close race between those two

Re: Transfer Rumours

He would possibly be cheaper. He has better movement in my opinion. Is scoring alot of goals in a poorer side than Everton. Can hold the ball up. Can head. Can score from inside the box and outside the box. He is a good passer.

Also I think he is more realistic for us. Wages would be less I imagine.

hmm, all i can say is that i may have to watch bony closer then

wages aside and cost aside

lukaku or bony...who would you prefer?

Wages and cost aside i would personally prefer Bony but it is very tight for me. I think bony is very underrated, so this is no slight on Lukaku from me
