Finney Is Back
Luka Modric
He played mainly as a DM before Poch upgraded him with Wanyama.Didn’t we play a whole season under Poch, with Dier in the back 3, with the Dutch pair either side of him?

So where did wanyama play? they played 36 games together in wanyama first season hereDM mainly.
That season he played CB alot as Toby (mainly) and Jan picked up alot of Injuries. So he was used as a utility player. So where did wanyama play? they played 36 games together in wanyama first season here
All better players than Eric Dier IMO. Anyway, Dier being in our SQUAD would be OK, Dier being first choice is anything but.
Disagree, Dier is easily as good as any of those players mentioned. All three were way better than Dier.
At Diet's peak, he was made by Poch as a DM. The system made him, he
There was no way he was gonna play as CB when we had Toby and Jan....and we were where we were because we had two of the best CB's in the the Prem.
The moment they had to retire and we moved Dier back into Defence you could see how much we have declined.
We need good/top quality CB's to be able to compete at the top....and Dier is no where near that and never has been.
He should be what Sanchez is to us at the moment, cover from the bench when we need it.... That's the level we need to compete at the top again.
Yea I thought our back 3 under Poch was mainly Jan-Sanchez-Toby and it looked pretty good tbf. Think the 2 CM ahead of them were a combo of Wanyama, Dier and Moussa. That season he played CB alot as Toby (mainly) and Jan picked up alot of Injuries. So he was used as a utility player.
Then Mousa and Wanyama hardly played many games together at the same time, so Dier partner either of them as required.
In fact when we did play a back 3, it was usually Sanchez/Winner with Toby and Jan, hardly ever Dier.
So Dier was always a regular, but not in a back 3.
Sanchez played in a 3 but dier IMO played in the 3 moreYea I thought our back 3 under Poch was mainly Jan-Sanchez-Toby and it looked pretty good tbf. Think the 2 CM ahead of them were a combo of Wanyama, Dier and Moussa.
man, that was a solid side we built!
Since he's started regularly playing at CB we have finished in the top 4 once out of three occasions and likely once out of four occasions at this season's end. For me that's not too 4 quality and tbf we did say top 4 chasing but to solidify it, for me he's top 4 calibre. None of our rivals would sign him if he were available. None are trying to poach him. If he played for Arsenal we wouldn't look at him wistfully wishing that he was our player. He is most certainly good enough for a side chasing top 4 given he has been part of a generation which saw us become a top 4 regular. Where I agree is we need a step up to actually win trophies.
Likewise, each of the top 4 contenders has players that we wouldn't want to poachSince he's started regularly playing at CB we have finished in the top 4 once out of three occasions and likely once out of four occasions at this season's end. He's ok, often bad and we need better.

Those players aren't usually in their starting 11 though.Likewise, each of the top 4 contenders has players that we wouldn't want to poach
So you'd want the likes of Holding, McTominay, and half the Saudi Sportswashing Machine team. Those players aren't usually in their starting 11 though.
Rob Holding is not a regular starter for Arsenal. United aren't a top 4 side, they may finish there this season likewise Saudi Sportswashing Machine. That's a weak argument. If you mentioned City or Liverpool layers then fair enough. So you'd want the likes of Holding, McTominay, and half the Saudi Sportswashing Machine team.

Utd and Saudi Sportswashing Machine are going to be competing for top 4 for the foreseeable future, they are top 4 sides. Mention Liverpool? They are nowhere near a top 4 side at the moment, they need a complete rebuild.Rob Holding is not a regular starter for Arsenal. Gabriel is a liability protected by an effervescent forward line and an energetic, smart midfield, as well as a system which deflects from his faults. I wouldn't want Matip or VVD right now personally (I have sympathy for VVD, he is just shot physically IMO), I think if you put Dan Burn or even Batman in our current side they'd suffer every bit as much, if not more, than the current incumbents. Utd's first-choice look pretty solid (again put them in our system/side, etc, etc) and Emirates Marketing Project have nurtured Ake to a the player he potentially always was, and Akjani is a player I wanted us to sign!
Wow... That's all I've got to say...
Henderson
Nunez is going to score a lot of goals in this league, don’t let first season syndrome fool you - he has the physicality for this league and will be really good long term. Anyway, the discussion was originally top 4 level sides - how the fudge did we get onto Liverpool …..Curtis Jones, Matip, TAA, Nunez, Jota. Wouldn't touch any of them. And before anyone raves about TAA, he's a great footballer but the least defensively aware defender I've ever seen.
