What's the difference between an investment in Tottenham as apossed to one elsewhere.

That they know that the debt can be serviced by what we earn.. not unlike a certain Manchester club.. therefore greed means they get fed by two spoons

An investment elsewhere would make money whilst Spurs would build a stadium using sponsorships and loans.

Greed? Well yes. It's business. The aim of the entire thing is to make money.

Throwing money at something is different in my book to Lending money and getting it back.

Throwing money at something is more papering over the cracks to save something that in all honesty is on its knees

I'll ask again.

Are you saying that Lewis could give the club an interest free loan that would save the club £10-15m per year without it costing him anything?

Actually... its to win trophies.

No, you don't own a business to win trophies. You own a business to make money.

Trophies are simply a means to an end. You win trophies so that your business is worth more, so that you earn more money.

Of course it would cost him.. but wouldn't be the same as Fernandes at QPR throwing money at them to stay up for example.. but in business you speculate.. and an interest free loan would get him the asset that we all want. I'm not begrudging him spending like 150m on probably putting this all together and selling for like 800m. That's the nature of the beast.. but if he hadn't faffed about we would be two years into a build. The longer we don't have the stadium the longer he loses money, the longer we don't have success, the longer we don't dine at the big boys table.

Again it comes down to what is the point of Joe Lewis to us as fans. I see no reason at all.

I thought we were talking about Tottenham Hotspur football club, where 33,000 fans turn up every other week to see there team maybe win trophies. the aim would be to win trophies and not earn profit. Only a select few think of it as a business to earn profit. This is the clash.. I'd hazard a guess that every single one of them couldn't care less if our bank statement said £0 at the end of every month.

What will be interesting is watching ENIC trying to find an buyer that is willing to pay 800m that is also willing not to pump funds in for players as a plaything, and also willing not to do a glazers and buy the club by servicing the debt with our profits.

Id wager the only owners of football clubs that don't see it as a business first would be the sugar daddies that can afford to treat this is all as a big game - for any club to succeed within it's means there needs to be a very nessecary bussiness model in place - the better the business the more chance of success on the pitch.

In fact our owners have done such a good job that it has become a failure in a lot of peoples eyes for us not to be in front of clubs with 100m + more turnover than us.

I agree.. there does need to be a decent model in place.. which Levy has every right to take acclaim for.

A select few would think of it as a business. Those who own it being some of them. Lewis owns some of us, therefore if you want to think about why and how Lewis would do things, you have to put yourself into that mindset.

The aim of the chairman and lower will be to win trophies. The aim of the owner would be to make money.

(Of course with the chairman also being part owner it skews that a bit)

Why does there have to be a point of Lewis? It's not like the fans have any say in whether or not he is allowed to continue or not.

He bought us with money that he earned. He aims to make a profit. He will do that by increasing the value of spurs. Therefore in the long term his and our objectives as fans are the same.

LOL at the fans don't have a say. Yeah OK. The moment that happens.. is the day football dies.

Not a clue.

I would assume that over time a chairperson would develop a fondness for the club they are chairing though.

I know as much that he is from a Spurs supporting family, as is Lewis - how much of a 'die hard' fan he is i do not know - although id imagine incredibly successful businessmen, such as these two, have little time to dedicate to following a club like your average fan does.
