Emerson Royal

I hope someone on the ground staff gets rid of the black cat we have had prowling the club. I can not really remeber a season like this for injurys.

Well, trying not to be a dingdong, but I pointed it out last game

- With all the data we have on athletes today, red zones, etc.
- Having a full week off to prepare for a game and then getting three injuries in game, plus additional post

Really looks like overtraining or the worst case of luck/coincidence .. you choose

It could be either i guess and without knowing the whole picture its hard to say. We all know injurys happen but i struggle to remember as many happening before, slight knocks which mean you MAY miss a game or two happen all the time but we seem to have had more then the fair share of longer ones.

I guess we'll see next season whether it's Conte's training regimen or bad luck (probably some mix of both)... I have to say that our medical team has never really seemed competent relative to other teams. Then again, I don't know how often we give players painkilling injections after suffering injuries, or to speed up their recoveries.

Obvious but it's such a shame for Royal on a personal level that once he found his best form the injuries have halted his progress. It was a joy to watch him properly find his feet after a difficult start.

I hope we take a reasonable and cautious approach with his rehabilitation, like we appear to have done with Skipp and his issues. Don't want any rush or painkilling injections etc

Give Royal the time to recover and Porro time to demonstrate his abilities. It was mentioned on another thread but I would rather give Tanganga another go (either at RB or RWB) as opposed to taking any risks with Emerson's recovery for the final stages of the season.

What's even more annoying is that it appears the injury happening in 2nd half stoppage time. Of a meaningless friendly ffs.

It's probably accumulative but unfortunate timing for sure.

And I get you probably mean "pointless" from our point of view but I imagine it was incredibly meaningful for Royal to be called up on by his country after coming through a rough spell of form (or just a reasonable time period of settling in to a new club / league / country.. depending on perspective...)

You don't get meniscus damage from being overworked. That's and impact injury. He'll be fine soon. I had part of the meniscus removed about 10 years ago. I was able to walk out of the hospital on my own the same day.

Afaik nobody has yet reported the severity of the tear

Royal doing light training on a patio in Brazil with some mates

Standing on left leg, kicking with right. You can see the white marks on his knee from keyhole surgery

Then starts a chat with Richarlison and 2 others I don't know, a comedian and an actor/singer bloke who borrowed his teeth off Firmino. Goes on for about 20 minutes of dense Portuguese chat, if anyone is fluent...

We want this because we believe it's time for him to take a bigger leap and go to a team that fights for titles."
