If he gets away with it, good for him. I'm a bit tired of our players all being nice chaps who laugh off challenges and walk away when the opposition are being clamy and leaving their feet in when jumping into tackles. Let him snarl, let him leave his foot in when jumping into challenges, and let him dive: Bale used to do it, and we didn't lambast him too much, did we?

An eye for an eye, imo. Sunderland were overly physical today, and Joe Allen ****ed us over two weeks ago. Screw taking the higher road, I want us to do whatever it takes to get revenge for those sorts of things.

Now, if you were criticising the technique of the dive, then I agree, it was appalling and he could have done it better. More practise required, imo.

agreed, until the FA (or whoever) actually make an effort to get diving out of the game we may as well use it to our advantage, like everyone else
 
Could get in to a long and drawn out debate about it but rather than do that, it's just a massive shame if Spurs fans think it's a good thing that our players dive. A real shame.

Agreed 100%.

But it's all a consequence of football's governing bodies not taking the diving problem seriously AT ALL. It's already been a problem for many seasons, and everyone who loves the game have seen that this virus is eating up football from the inside.

Unfortunately those with the power to change this, don't give a **** as long as they keep making good money. That's why regular football fans have started to give in, IMO. I feel the same way myself at times, thinking **** it, if other teams get away with it, why shouldn't we do it? It's a sad state of affairs, really.
 
id like nothing more than there to be some serious effort to tackle the problem of diving - but until then im not opposed to our players trying to use it to our advantage. otherwise we're handicapping ourselves.

retrospective action is an easy thing to implement - won't be seeing players dive if they know they'll be getting a 3 match ban when caught
 
it's part of the game now, we shouldn't play with one arm tied behind our back

as I said about something else, it's PL football, not real life, leave your morals and ethics at the turnstiles
 
Funny, was just discussing that dive with my mate who was driving back. I agree with Billy et al. And after seeing Cattermole and others get away with some nasty stuff, not to mention the generous tumble whasshisname took to win their free-kick, I'd have to say good for Danny. Mightily impressed with his resolve, effort and re-up in the determination to succeed stakes. Well played son.

Indeed, and I feel a tad dirty myself, but I could say I feel a tad dirty following the modern game TBH in comparison to the game I fell in love with. My final straw was Bale's final season when we got not ONE penalty and the universe was onto him for diving, meanwhile half the f ucking Prem was behaving like Greg Louganis and getting away with it. That cost us CL that year as much as anything else did...
 
He could have had a pen at the beginning. Definite contact but probably wasn't enough.

Serious Humble Pie for a majority of fans. He has kept his head down and is earning his place in the side. Credit to Danny Rose.

This is where I am now - it's up to the authorities to get rid of it.
I hate it, but it's part of the game now.
Even faked someone fouling me ( not a dive) myself coz the opposition were getting away with it. I'm not proud of it, but it needed doing.

Indeed, these are the same people who **** off the likes of Young when he dives, personally I think it is pathetic
 
Can someone provide me with a valid football reason why Rose didn't slide it across to Lamela for an easy tap in at the start of the game? He chose to shoot from a near impossible angle. Selfish and careless. Small things like that are so easy to improve on.

Uh, he made the wrong decision? No idea whether it was selfish and careless. But hey, when Lamela does a stepover that comes to nothing...oh, never mind.
