I'm telling you mate, what I saw a couple of weeks ago has turned me. If you watched him over the three games, let alone the first, he is absolutely moving smarter and doing his primary job better. Poch will absolutely have drilled him, and the shape he wants to play allows Rose to be in IF he wants to knuckle down and put the effort in. I think Poch sees the raw tools and believes he can re-train what for me is one of the worst footballing/concentration brains at the club. I'd already seen enough to do a virtual 180 on him (as written a few days ago) and I think Poch cannot lose at this point…we have two proper left-backs at the club. Fryers, if he remains, will be developed as a CB IMO...
 
still don't get the hate, lfb is a difficult role in the current game, we now have Davies and Rose, which PL team has 2 lb's as good as that other than city and Chelsea

that's a position of strength for us IMO
 
poch's game is based on overlapping movement.

wingbacks overlap midfielders
midfielders overlap strikers

i see a place for rose to excel in that strategy, just using his speed and endurance. no crosses, just getting up into space faster than others, supporting play with simple short passes.

I agree. I can accept someone not rating him, I can't accept the extreme vitriol written about Rose. It astounds me...how Spurs fans could actually HATE someone as much as some clearly do on here (and Facebook etc)
 
5 more years of playing the opposition on side, failing to stop the cross and going AWOL.

Why is it some fans don't seem to want Rose to flower - excuse the pun - its almost like they have written his doomed future and want it to come true. Rather than see him succeed. There is always, without fail, one player who carries the burden of hate and frustration. Rose carries that burden. It must be hard going to work and reading paper headlines about how fans think your zhit. A number of papers ran the story, and the internet awash with disdain for him.

Is he strong enough to come back from that? Can not be easy. Imagine if you went into work each day, and the papers were saying how awful you were at your job, and how the customers hate you!
 
My main issue with Rose was his lack of desire to get back when caught out of position. If Poch addresses this then he is a more than adequate LB to compete with Davies.

He can work hard on his positional play, less silly fouls, improve his final ball. All the kinds of things that Poch obsessively drills in to players.

Clean slate given from me. Hope he does the business.

I'm hoping he does better than that...presumably for the benefit of everyone and everything. Going to be interesting to see if Rose, who is allegedly terrible, provides competition to Davies who is a 'top, top signing'.

You find that surprising? Dawson gets more hate on this board than Rose, and Dawson has extremely good matches and even good seasons.

Rose has never shown anything more than flashes of a half decent player, to me it was criminal by the club that we played the 2nd half of last season with him as the only option at LB, but not his fault.
 
Trouble is he's not improving, 36 games for us and he's still making the same mistakes game in game out.
I don't see any part of his game being particularly strong, he needs to improve so many elements. I just can't see him ever being good enough for a team at the business end of the EPL.
 
Its only pre-season, but he looks improved already. Not good enough for business end of PL? Well, he was good enough for Top 6 last season...and that was with two crap managers (allegedly). If you are talking Top 4 then you may have a point. Of course, he wouldn't be alone in that.
 
I'm going to come out and say it...... I quite like Danny Rose! There's a good player in there

Your drugs sounds fantastic.

I haven't seen a single second of Danny Rose wearing a Spurs shirt that would suggest he's a decent player. I think he is pretty damn average, at best, and a liability. Give me YP Lee and Diesel at the back and I'll be sound as a pound.

For those who are mortified by those of us who think Rose can't cut the cheese and think we're horrible people: stuff it. Can you honestly say you've seen young Rose produce a decent half of football? You should be ashamed of yourselves for even suggesting he's good enough for Spurs.

He was man of the match at Anfield and played very well at the Etihad in 2011. So yes, I can honestly say it and I'm not ashamed.

I'm not sure what it has to do with anything, other than maybe your bizarre formula for working out what type of players I like, but Kyle Walker. The two couldn't really be more different in their style.

It's kind of a reference point I have. Paul Stalteri was a fantastic defender, whereas Walker is not.
