Danny Rose

KD why do you rate Rose so highly?

I'm on the "let's get him shipped out asap" side of the fence, but maybe I can't see something.

Why do you like him?

I wouldn't say i rate him highly but i certainly think he is a good full back that has the potential to be very good.

He's pretty decent going forward but does need to work on his crossing. His tackling is pretty good and positionally he's nowhere near as bad as most like to make out . Put it this way.....Vlad chiriches' positioning is possibly 20 times worse than Rose's yet for some strange reason it's not spoken about much (in fact....when Chiriches positioning is exposed most blame it on Rose looool).

Rose was brilliant for Sunderland and was excellent for us before he got injured. Sure after the injury his form declined but that happens. The same people that call him **** now are the same people that cited him as one of the reasons our form dipped ..and why AVB could not play his preferred way when Rose was injured.

Decent back up to be honest. He's better than Fryers in the position, just wish he'd improve his final ball because then he'd be bearable.

Probably basing it off his dreadful final ball. Though to be fair, I'd say technically he's as good as Walker.

About as good as Walker is about correct, which is quite a bit worse than Ben Davie and Assou-Ekotto for example in my opinion at least.

Ekotto is good, but Rose is younger, English and has a lot more sale value than him, if he's signed a new five year deal after the signing of Ben Davies that makes me believe he's willing to fight.

Sure, not saying that we should keep Ekotto over Rose. Just saying that I think technically him and Davies are better than our other full backs with Naughton somewhere in between them and Walker/Rose.

Do full backs in general actually produce a good delivery consistently?

Full backs in general, no.

Full backs at top teams relying heavily on their full backs for width, most of the time yes.

I am ashamed on behalf of all the so called "supporters" that abuse and harass Danny Rose. One could think the kid got us relegated all by himself, twice, by all the abuse he gets in social media. Some confidence boost.... How about giving him some proper support! He's prepared to fight for a place in the team! That counts for something! Players that want an automatic place in the team are losers and leave. Winners stay and fight for their place! He's not terrible. With some proper guidance, which I think he will get from Poch, he can do a decent job.

Agreed.

This is good news, we'll have more depth than last season with him and Davies. Hopefully we'll stick someone who won't leave rose so isolated on the left hand side when he plays.

Let's give Danny another chance, can we? Last season he finally got his chance after an impressive loan season at Sunderland. He wanted so badly to impress when he came back, and was quite good before he got injured IMO. Then maybe the pressure got to him a bit too much when he came back, it could have been like he wanted to showe us all how good he was a bit too much. And his fitness maybe wasnt as good as it should have been. But he had to lplay when Verts got injured. Now we have Davies, and hopefully Rose can work his way back - and improve. Then we have two young LBs, and British too :)

You know what? I will give Rose a chance. As a player, he's the sort of **** I hate, but he's Spurs so I can let him off plus we don't have too many ****s who will get in the oppositions face and stick up for his team.

I rated Rose really highly when redknapp decided to give him a try at left back, a failure as a winger evidently. He put in two back to back man of the match performances, Annfield and Etihad, which is damn impressive considering they were both his first two games as left back.

He then got his loan move to Sunderland, where I didn't see too much of him but he got their player of the year, over the likes of Fletcher etc and for a team in a relegation scrap all year, it's rather impressive.

Started of well last year, I mean him and Chadli were linking up well, we hadn't conceded in GHod knows how long, he then gets injured, comes back under a completely different manager in a system that allowed teams to *struggle cuddle* us in defence.

Let's judge him as part of a team with a system. We saw that under AVB at times and he looked comfortable and we had a good defensive shape, let's see him under Poch. I mean at left back against Seattle in poch's first game he was arguably our best player for his duration on the pitch.

In all honesty, I'm happy to give everyone a clean slate under Pochettino.

Agreed!

And to add to the point about crossing earlier, I actually think that Rose has the talent to become a more than adequate crosser of the ball for us. I thought he showed some great crossing ability when he first broke into the team at left back and at Sunderland, and we all know that he can strike a ball. I actually think his final ball problems last season were more mental than technical as he just seemed to get stressed and rushed in the final third a lot.

I agree. Naturally you can see he's a better crosser than Walker who simply doesn't have it in him. Rose has the technique and ability to cross a ball but last season it wasn't very good for the most part.

About the crossing: He actually had a brilliant swing in to Kane against Chicago last week, but Harry effort went wide. The rest of Danny first half wasnt that good, but hopefully he will relax a bit when the pressure is more off with Davies in the squad, and come back stronger.

I was hoping that we would sell him ( i would rather we played Fryers), however the abuse he is getting from the macarons on Facebook and ****ter shows the mentality of some of our supporters.

Rose poor technique? in what world.

Compared to Benny - Roy Keane vs Zidane.
That said, I rate Rose as a fullback, assuming he can get his head together, not rush in to challenges and not jog back when he's on the attacking third and we've lost the ball!
