Danny Rose

Its even worse business if you take the Walker sale, Wimmer seems out of favour and CCV it being ready into consideration.

Injuries aside - we can't lose another defender - or even more pace.

Let's see how this all plays out before getting too worried. We have lost one player that we wanted to sell. We were right to sit out the early window madness, there was little value there and if we had shown our hand, richer clubs would have hijacked the deals. Rose is on a long contract and I think that we will hold him to it for another year. I am sure that we will see players signed before the window closes.

I think that you are probably right. I would expect him to be sold next summer now but that may have happened anyway, being a fullback in a Poch side is a young man's game.

Totally agree and wish we had gotten sessegnon in already to take over in a years time.

#thfc Incidentally, this is the problem with the 'Kyle wanted to move back up north' explanation for selling him. Rose now using same line.
Ben Pearce‏@BenPearceSpurs 30m30 minutes ago
#thfc And, speaking of precedent, sell Rose now out of pique & you might see more interviews like this in future. Shows players the way out.

#thfc Solution? Back up Poch's words by signing good players & show Rose he can win trophies, not because he wants it but bcoz club wants it

Spot on.

Depends how close they were, Northerners Sticking together sort of thing... Walker will have or will be talking about how much he gets paid now to the rest of the squad I imagine.

Funny bunch up north...

They have played with each since they were kids ... opposite sides of the Yorkshire league

Are we actually?

Sissoko is on 95k !!!!! and we would have freed a fair bit of wages up recently?

Increased TV deal/CL money/player sales/New Nike deal.

A large percentage goes on the ground, but I don't believe if we really wanted to give the players a pay rise we couldn't, even more so if our incomings remain 0/1/2 players.

Until you or anyone else for that matter can prove to me beyond any doubt that Sissoko is on 95k a week then I don't believe it for one second. A club run by Levy who is renowned for being very frugal and I am expected to believe he earns more than anyone else within our squad? I would imagine he is on around 60k max.

That increased TV deal, Nike money and player sales are all well and good but that has to go towards new signings and their wage packets too as well as the new ground and paying for Wembley. I don't doubt we could marginally increase every players wage by 10k a week but where is the sense in that if they were happy to sign their contract less than a 18 months ago at that given rate? Are you telling me they didn't know that teams like City and Utd pay vastly more than us when they were happy to sign?

That all aside, this is not the right way to invoke a contract wage rise discussion. We are paying within our means, if you aren't happy with the contract offer then don't sign and if you are now unhappy after a short time frame then you should formally request a rise or put in a transfer request. There is no other way in which that should be handled.

Another theory .... Barkley is to Rose what Neymar is to Dani Alves.

So keen is our rose to blossom

Rose calls for Tottenham to sign players he 'doesn't have to Google'

The main part of his comments we must all have agreed on?

It seems he has been honest to me, if anything he has been too honest... and it seems the truth hurts for a lot of people.

But it isn't being fully honest is it? Because the interview is really a way of attempting to force Spurs into a corner whereby they sell him without a transfer request coming in if certain conditions he feels should be met are not. That isn't being honest then because that says to me that the player is feeling more towards wanting a move and if that's the case then put in the request and go from there.

Absolutely, and £10k across the board is not going to get close to what they could earn elsewhere. Kane and Alli could probably get £250k at another club, all of our first choice defenders £150k, Eriksen would probably be in the same bracket. If we did this then either we stop investing in new signings/the stadium or we rack up massive debts.

Who cares what Danny Rose thinks? i am just enjoying the good times. I remember how things once were.

My low point. 2003. Spurs 0 Emirates Marketing Project 2.

Keller, Carr, Gardner, Bunjevcevic, King, Taricco, Anderton, Davies, Poyet, Keane, Sheringham.

I don't think we managed a shot all game. I think we finished 14th that season.

Whatever you think of the timing of Danny Rose's comments, the reality is that plenty of his Spurs team-mates would agree with him.

This season Levy has to decide between keeping this team together and keeping his wage structure in place. Current balance unsustainable.

Again very true.

It's not true, is it? We have kept the team together. We have just seen two players with the same agent deploy the same tactics.

A club being frugal wouldn't spend 30 million on Sissoko in the first place, surely?

I don't disagree with you regarding the way he's hanbled it at all - I thought his interview at the end of the season was about as close to the edge as you can get.

But with all the money coming into the club, I still don't believe if Levy really wanted to he couldn't top the wages up for Kane etc.

I think that a key issue in analyzing Rose's comments are the real motivation for giving the interview. It appears that he wanted to give it, and one must question his motives. Is he agitating for a move? A big pay rise? Is it just a result of pent up frustration and concern about his injury? I think most important is what he has been saying to Poch and the club generally. They may have heard all of this, most of which is hardly news -- others pay more, we haven't spent anything, he wants medals, he misses Kyle W. and he wants to go back up North. And I doubt that any of this is news to the players either. As long as he doesn't say I'm going on strike until I get my dream move to [insert boyhood Northern club] I don't think there is much to be concerned about.

Perhaps he could have tried saying nothing in public?

The naivety in thinking you can keep this group of players together, paying the less than the market rate, by having a manager that they like and respect is just tremendous IMHO.

I have worked for bosses i have tremendous respect for but ultimately i want to earn as much as i can, its common sense.

He is 27, get every penny we can for the guy and find a 19/20 year old that has potential and do the same again.

I think you are missing the point entirely. No one is saying he shouldn't seek higher wages elsewhere just that this wasn't the way to do it especially off the back of Walker doing the same more or less. It's like he is trying to get his move and destabilise at the same time. If you want your move so badly then request it.

Actually think there is more chance of him going in Jan than this window.

We have seen and heard widespread reports that players are not particularly happy with mid-table wages for being in the top 2/3 in the league. And why should they be? We have maybe 1 more season of winning nothing before the clamour to leave will be tremendous, regardless of the manager.
