Danny Rose

You can blame it on the player's agent though. This is exactly the same tactic he used with Walker, disrupt the team at a crucial point and try and force a rift.

The signings stuff is just a smokescreen.

It's not the Media's fault and the agent is Doing his job.

In Roses defence, he did mention it at the end of last season as well - in a less angry way and what he is saying isn't inaccurate.

Selling Walker was always going to have a knock on effect with Rose, the same would apply to Dier and Alli.

I've no issue with selling Rose, his injury record is terrible, as long as we replace him first - we can't go into the season another defender light, or risk with out 15th choice on deadline day because Levy is playing hardball over pennies.

The worst thing we can do is start the season with only 1 first team LB and RB on the books - even more so when Davies is penned as a backup CB by some.

I'm unsure on Shaw, he's a good player - but his injury record is pretty poor as well.

Sadly when we sold rose the "sale" sign went up over the doors - if we wanted it or not.

I'd heard that there were similar issues with Rose and Walker at the end of last season but that the club wanted to sell Walker but not Rose. I would assume that is still the case. I don't think the Walker stuff comes into play, it is just a player agitating for more money.

Depends how close they were, Northerners Sticking together sort of thing... Walker will have or will be talking about how much he gets paid now to the rest of the squad I imagine.

Funny bunch up north...

I get that but my understanding is that the situation arose before Walker was sold. It is just their agent trying to cash in whilst they are at their peak.

Fair enough.

Guess the worry is about them tapping up the rest.

He's gone about it the wrong way - buts he's right about the wages, think we all know it.

There is nothing that we can do about the wages. Unfortunately, the market rate for a player like Rose is beyond us, which is why we have to do things differently. If we break the wage ceiling for Rose then we will have five or six other players looking for as much or more.

Thats why the Poch system works so well with young players, if you are out to prove yourself, make a name for yourself in the game then we are a great club to play for, Rose is now 27 at the peak of his earning potential, he wants to make as much as he can, good for him.

We signed him for £1m, if someone wants to pay a figure similar to the amount we received for Walker, then id say thats great business.

The fact we haven't got a replacement for him in already and will have to rely on Davies is bad business.

He isn't actually right about the wages though. We are paying what we can afford to pay, more or less, at this moment in time. If they are unhappy with the wages then they should not sign a 5-6 year deal and put a proper transfer request in but they won't because that is too simple and means they and the agent miss out on money.

Totally agree he can earn more but if that's the case then ask properly for a move, don't carry out clandestine interviews that are unlikely to have been authorised given the content and start giving bizarre reasons why you might want to play elsewhere. If the man himself speaks so much truth then speak it fully, not piecemeal to suit his own agenda.

Does a formal transfer request not still mean they lose out on their "loyalty bonus"?

He is agitating and attempting to put the club in the position where they choose to sell him rather than have a negative influence in the dressing room.

Are we actually?

Sissoko is on 95k !!!!! and we would have freed a fair bit of wages up recently?

Increased TV deal/CL money/player sales/New Nike deal.

A large percentage goes on the ground, but I don't believe if we really wanted to give the players a pay rise we couldn't, even more so if our incomings remain 0/1/2 players.

That's exactly what it means so that is my point. If he is so truthful then be truthful about what it is that you want. Don't do these interviews to force a position, just state your position and give up the loyalty bonus rather than play games. If you really feel that you are worth more then make a transfer request formally. You will make up what you lost with a bumper pay day elsewhere if the agent is to be believed so just do it.

Its even worse business if you take the Walker sale, Wimmer seems out of favour and CCV it being ready into consideration.

Injuries aside - we can't lose another defender - or even more pace.

It seems he has been honest to me, if anything he has been too honest... and it seems the truth hurts for a lot of people.

The naivety in thinking you can keep this group of players together, paying the less than the market rate, by having a manager that they like and respect is just tremendous IMHO.

I have worked for bosses i have tremendous respect for but ultimately i want to earn as much as i can, its common sense.

He is 27, get every penny we can for the guy and find a 19/20 year old that has potential and do the same again.
