Danny Rose

I'd like to see Rose as our left back next season.
AVB clearly doesn't like Ekotto and he hasn't looked the same since his injury. Naughton just isn't good enough and if we do keep him, I hope it's as back up at right back.

Rose has been Sunderland's best player this season and he always did well when playing for us. I remember when he first came in at left back in a game against City and he looked like he had been playing there all season.

We really are setting the bar low if we think Rose is good enough to be first choice left back. He wouldn't get in any other team in the top 7.

Disagree that he always did well for us. Apart from the North London derby, I don't think he showed anywhere near enough for us to decide he should be our first choice LB.

It won't be based on what he did for us 2 or 3 years ago, but what he's doing this season at Sunderland.

All those suggesting we should go for Baines or Coentrao. You do know we don't have unlimited funds and that it would mean one less attacking player?

I think we can afford/expect one top striker, one creative midfielder and anything left over goes towards another attacking player. Unless we get £10+ million for either Ekotto or Rose.

I think AVB wants to take us towards a formation without classical wingers, which requires attacking FBs and a decent DM that covers for them. And a CB pairing that works.

It's Lee Young Pyo all over again eh Roy?

Seems so mate! He's done well for Sunderland this season - how are they getting on again??

It's crazy to suggest he's good enough. I've seen him play 10/11 times this season and he looks good yes but if we want CL he's not strong enough.

Hmm, has Rose ever had the kind of hype that he can be a great player that Bale did when he was younger? Bale has always been seen as a potential future star.

Being like a rubbish version of Gareth Bale doesn't make him a great left back either though...

I think he could be OK as backup, but is he really that much better than Benny that you would start him? Rose may be good in a few years, but i think he needs another season on loan somewhere a bit more mid-table to see if he can perform consistently as anyone replacing Benny should be an upgrade now, not potentially.

Strange choice.

Once saw a Spurs fan with Ghaly on the back of the shirt!

Funniest one I saw was when Anderton was playing, someone had number 7 "injured" on the back

It's with great sadness I say that I have a 2008/09 third shirt with "5 Bentley" on the back... Realy thought he'd be great for us!

ouch that's a bad one

forever grateful my dad never let me get Dozzell on my back when i was a kid

Have to agree with this, and he is a red card waiting to happen as his positioning and tackling are shocking.

not sure about the red card thing but was young and seems to have improved tremendously this season. that said he was always going to be better than the rest of the team he is playing with, so he had to stand out. i think he'll need to take another step up to be noticed at spurs. AVB has done a good job at bleeding and integrating the youngsters, so I think its worth a shot.
