Daniel Levy - Chairman

I agree it’s great to have the option.... not great when it’s the only option. Maybe we’re the Mavericks with the right idea here and everybody else will catch on? Or maybe the other 19 PL clubs know what they’re doing? Which is your money on?

Just as we were the smart ones not signing anyone for a full season.

It's not the only option any more, Bergwijn is clearly a player for that area too.

The bolded bit, exactly, every single thing we do, don't forget we are the only club playing by the rules, and the rest will all have to fall in line at some point, we are so far ahead of the game.

Clearly none of them have a clue what they are doing, which is why most of them are brick and the ones that aren't have only got into that position by spending a fudge ton of money that they didn't earn.

Only problem with that logic is we have been steadily regressing since 2016/17. The stats in every category practically prove that. I don’t see us going on to dominate English football. Emirates Marketing Project are the only ones who have flouted the rules. The other clubs are all rich and have spent money they earned which is fair. I would like to see ENIC invest more of their own money in the club. You might say should they but the more successful we are, the more money the club earn, which they pocket. The club gets more exposure. We made the best part of £100m from the CL run last season and it raised the club’s profile.

Performances on the pitch have regressed yes, but regards to the actual pitch and the stadium around it, we've improved, thats an important step forward we had to make. We still have the bulk of the players that put in those title challenges, we know they can play at that level.

I want that domination, but if Jose doesn't work out I think that might break me, if he can't move us forward again, win one of those big titles, I don't think anyone can, I will diminish, and go into the west.

Do we though? Let’s examine:

Rose - one foot out the door
Walker - gone
Eriksen - gone
Toby - Close to past it
Jan - see above
Kane - still very good but not at the level he was a couple of years ago. Will always score goals though.
Dembele - gone
Alli - still here but not kicked on from his first two seasons when he was a 8/10. Now he’s more like a 6/10 most weeks.

The only player we have who is at the same high level from before is Son.

Toby should be at his peak, as should Kane, Alli has levels we’ve not seen yet (let’s get him to 10/10), Lloris and Lamela are playing as well as ever, Dier is looking good again.

We just need to get those players right physically and mentally, drill the newbies to the level of those they have replaced, and it will all fall back into place.

It's not easy, it's not automatic, but it's feasible, we only need players to play at a level they have already proven they are capable of, if the work is done on the training pitch and in the players heads it can happen.

As I believe you have pointed out before, we have suffered from mental fragility in the past, Jose has a track record of getting teams over the line.

Levy's problem now is the club is broke.
We have no money to spend.
Levy wont sell Kane or Son to generate money at time when he'll only get half their value in a buyers market.
No one will pay actual money for the likes of Foyth, Sissoko, Aurier, Davies etc because only 4 or 5 team have any money. Even Barcelona only want Ndombele on loan.
The only way to get through this next 2 or 3 years really is bringing through youth.
When Levy brought in Mourinho he didn't see us being in this financial situation. He isn't the manager we need right now.

Fair points

But we can be clever in the market. We’re not the only club that has less money to spend than planned due to COVID. And there is always someone that needs someone.

Maybe it’s time to bring in Cirkin at left back for example and give him a few games (Jose has mentioned him several times in the past). Doesn’t help that the two players who can play RB are injured though.

Levy, great at finance, average with football matters on the pitch.

Didnt back Harry in january when we should have won the title.

Didnt back Pochettino in the market when we needed more players.

Will not back anyone under the current football climate.

We will never win the title under Levy.

You say Dier is looking good again, he still got done by Pogba for their penalty against us and he was as culpable as Sanchez and Davies for the three goals today, just standing around ball watching and not marking anyone. If he’s the answer to our CB problems then we are in trouble. He had his best season in 2015/16 and Poch decided we need an upgrade in his position (Wanyama) who played the majority of the games in Dier’s position. He looks good when playing with better defenders, when he’s paired with Sanchez, it’s a recipe for disaster as neither are good enough on the ball and are both prone to mistakes.

Lloris was having an awful season before he got injured. Looked much better recently though. He also cost us in a lot of big games, he regularly drops clangers in the big moments for spurs and France.

If you say Lamela is playing as good as ever, if by that you mean not scoring, assisting and taking forever to make up his mind about playing the final ball then I agree. I love his work ethic and application, his end product isn’t good enough to start games. He’s not the player we thought we were getting from Roma (the one who scored 15 goals a season). Not to mention his injury record. I’m baffled as to the following he has on here. Feels like I’m missing something. There seem to be a handful of posters who will never admit when he’s had a bad game.

As I said before, the vast majority of the best players we had, the spine of the team have either moved on or have regressed or have simply got old.

I think people need to have accept that we’re capable of having two ideas in our heads at the same time when it comes to ENIC. They have done brilliantly in certain aspects for the club, mainly the business side of things. In other areas; transfers, backing managers, getting deals done earlier, they need to improve. There’s nothing wrong with saying there are things they can do better at. If doesn’t mean we want different ownership, I just want the current ones to act and think differently. After finishing 2nd we could have signed Mane and Wilnaljdum if we had been bold, but we ended up with Sissoko and Njie. Poch distances himself from the sissoko signing in his book.

Yet this Sumer we have that manager the players he wanted didn’t we and we look worse

I’m not totally absolving Poch as a lot of his signings aren’t good enough but they weren’t all his signings I believe. He wanted better players than he ended up with. It may also be a case of too little too late, the rot had set in before we made the signings we made last summer. The squad went stale due to lack of investment.

He also didn’t get to see the best of Lo Celso as we once again took an age to sign him so he didn’t get a pre season and spent 4-6 months getting up to speed. Not guaranteeing he would have hit the ground running from day one if we had signed him earlier but I’d always back someone to succeed earlier when signed in June or July as opposed to late August.

He was injured day 1 wasn’t he

But would it not be more beneficial to get a head start and be around the club for longer, have longer to adjust to living in this country etc?
We could have him 3 weeks earlier
But there was the issue that needed sorting around PsGs sell on fee and that took time
These things always take time though
most transfers aren’t quick although they seem to be portrayed as though they are
But Lo Celso alone couldn’t have dragged the mentality up of these players

As i said this club, on the pitch, has been left to dissaray and now i hope fans are realising why.

We've won 3 games on the road in the last 18 months, 3. THREE. For a team that made the CL final a year ago. That had successive CL qualifications. We were better than Arsenal. Arguably better than Chelsea. Better than United for sure.

I don't buy the "Stadium means we can't buy anyone" - go back and look at Arsenal who were the last team to build a stadium and move. Every season, even in their lower spend years, they bought players in at a minimum of £10m (and that was in the 00's so with inflation you can bump that up in today's money).

It's absolute drivel to believe Spurs couldn't buy anyone, we were limited sure, but options exist. It's inexcusable for a club, ANY club, to go into a season with 1 striker. We've done it in consecutive seasons. It's inexcusable for a club to have 3 first team starters in the final year of their contract. It's inexcusable to be the first team since the introduction of the transfer window to go a full season with no signings, but we managed it.

Levy is a fantastic businessman, he's built a world class stadium. He hasn't built it for you, or for the fans. It's his stadium (along with Uncle Joe's). If i have a 3 bed house, and knock it down and rebuild for a 6 bed house, i've spent money sure, but my asset will be worth far more than before. My value, my assets, my income streams for rental, whatever, the benefit is for me and my Bank Account. That's Daniel Levy.

As i said before, the CL run was the best many of us have seen in our lifetime, and likely you wont' get close to that feeling for years and years and years. How often do great managers land on your doorstep? We've been through 10 permanent managers in 20 years, and given Poch lasted 5 years... i mean... jeez.

Daniel Levy doesn't care about you.

Signings do take time. Ours seem to drag on longer than most teams though.
