Christian Eriksen

soldado doesnt add anything significantly enough to warrant ade's removal

at this stage in his tottenham career, that statement IMO is almost factual

Soldado over Ade every day of the week for me. Needs a long run of games. How many has Ade scored in his last 10 league games? Give Soldado 10 and we will see how he does. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we will.

I'd rather give that run of games to Kane, if we were to drop Ade.

Modric THF[I said:
[/I]C;599246]Do you think he has the pace, acceleration and strength to be able to work in small areas of space in these tight games?

I think mentally he has it. Always seems to be annoyed if his free kicks aren't perfect. Saw him haranguing a ref after Lamela was fouled today while all the other spurs players looked the other way. Its impossible to know. We're back to judging body language looking at what we wanna see.

Nope, not at all. I'd like to see him bulk up a bit, get a little physically stronger, and demand the ball to dictate the game.

As for whether I think he has the pace and acceleration, he will never have amazing bursts of pace or acceleration, but if he had the presence it would matter less. Set-pieces? I gave up on that a long time ago with any of them bar Bale. As for body language, he doesn't display nearly enough for me mate...

He did so well defensively today pressing and closing down and winning the ball back.
He ended up with 4 interceptions and 2 tackles.
This is the type of thing Lennon got his sphincter rimmed for on here.

but he also lost the ball too easily, especially getting pushed off running with the ball. one of them was by sterling.

good player, very talented but still needs to hold his ground better. modric could as a small guy, eriksen should take him as an example.
otherwise every coach is going to the same to eriksen today - just keep hassling him off the ball, drag him back into defending where he can't hurt them up top.

I was disappointed with him today, and the impression I get is that he isn't enjoying where he is being asked to play.

Said it before say it again, overrated cos he scored a few free kicks in meaningless games back end of last season.

Talented player but that's it, lets face it if he was as good as we hoped we would have had competition for him last summer. Instead several clubs turned down approaches by his agent.

He's a good player but if we want to be anywhere near top four he should be nothing more than a complimentary player, you dont finish near the top with someone limited like Eriksen as one of your stars.

Good lord....

A little harsh, but I do think that he has been hyped a little too much.

I think people forget that he's only 22 years old. He is class, but still very young and inexperienced. Reminds me a bit of Modric when he first came.

Modric was tough from the start mate. One thing you could never accuse Luka of was being easily pushed off the ball...

Not me. Modric was a tough little bugger who would get stuck in. I don't think Eriksen has that kind of personality.

Sorry, wasn't comparing their attributes so much, just the adjustment period. Modric was tough for sure, but he certainly didn't boss games from the beginning.

Mainly due to him being on the left. Could be in the minority here but I don't feel Modric really bossed any games when he was with us, unless someone wants to give me an example.

He BOSSED our games, but he was supposed to, he was our central midfield talent who was the only one capable of finding every pass, but I never felt he bossed THE overall game.

How would you describe someone bossing a game? Which players do that regularly?

I mostly agree with this
Modric dictated our game - like a qtr back or an orchestra conductor.
But he didn't dominate games in a Viera, Yaya Toure type way.
He did, however, facilitate the team dominating games.

Now that is not what Eriksen is about - I think Benteleb is more likely to do that.

Modders in his first season was a bit weak. But he was also too slow to react to things, like getting the right body shape to make himself strong. He developed that to become almost impossible to get the ball from, but not in year 1.

Both Eriksen and Lamela need to learn this. They are too weak when receiving the ball or being challenged. And it comes down to timing and shape rather than strength.

Every now and then people write stuff on a forum which show that you don't need to give their posts any attention again.

I really struggle to see how so many 'fans' make things so complicated. Eriksen last season was ok for the first part. Played in several different positions across midfield until finally settling in the role on the left which fits all of his attributes. Not the quickest so can come inside and play any sort of pass, slide in behind, or a dangerous in swinging cross of which he had so many. He missed about a 3rd of the season I would say but from all the midfielders in the league I think he finished 2nd or 3rd for goals/assists combined, (not including penalties).

Poch played him right midfield or centre in pre seaon and I questioned it on the forum then. Why would you hinder your best player from last season by playing him in an unfavoured position?

So far the only thing that's changed this season from last is that Poch is playing him out of position. I don't blame Eriksen for that. You think Poch would know better after Eriksen played well on the left in both wins vs Saints last season.

He's the nuts. I can't believe people can't see what he brings. Goals, skills and deft touches, passing, movement what more do you want? He is ready. As soon as we're playing well, moving well as a team in a system his technical ability and fast mind will be invaluable. And then we'll sell him :)
